Is waiting for the right opportunity worth it?

Whether you are starting a new venture or looking towards the next step in your career, friends are always happy to give you great advice. Why Your Idea Doesn'’t Matter

Working with high growth companies means constantly sorting through new product and service offerings to find expansion opportunities in the market. Whether it's an established company with diversified revenue sources, or a company getting off the ground, the new offering process is a never ending exercise; in today's markets you need to either expand or die. One characteristic I run into when sorting this out with companies is an obsession around the uniqueness of the idea.

Excerpt: Maxim Founder Felix Dennis on the Fallacy of Big Ideas - Jeff Bercovici - Mixed Media - Forbes

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffbercovici/2011/03/11/excerpt-maxim-founder-felix-dennis-on-the-fallacy-of-big-ideas/ In addition to being a publisher, poet, planter of trees and polyamorist, Felix Dennis, founder of Maxim and The Week magazines, is simply one of the most entertaining people you could hope to converse with.

http://blog.startupprofessionals.com/2011/03/entrepreneurs-need-fewer-hot-ideas-and.html Based on my own experience and feedback from friends, every investor is approached by at least ten entrepreneurs with a “hot idea” for a new business, for every one who has a real “plan” for a new business.

Entrepreneurs Need Fewer Hot Ideas and More Plans

http://blog.assetmap.com/2011/01/social-web/lets-end-the-ideas-are-worthless-myth/ I love Silicon Valley. I love the entrepreneurial energy and the blister and pop of passion being painted into reality every day. But if entrepreneurial density is the Valley’s greatest asset, it can also, sometimes, be its greatest weakness.

Let’s End the Myth that Ideas are Worthless
