Why Gamification Can't Be Stopped

From recycling, to personal health, to corporate culture, gamification is seeping into all aspects of everyday life. The practice of applying game mechanics to non-game contexts — for example fandom, separating trash from glass or meeting company goals — has exploded in the past few years. Gamification for Game Designers & Developers

This is a talk I gave at Develop in Brighton on 7/13/2010 about gamification and game mechanics for game designers and developers.
Gamification, the practice of adding game-like mechanics to non-game applications to improve engagement, is going through a hype cycle. And one of its leading experts, Amy Jo Kim, added to the push by outlining seven core gamification tricks today at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.
