CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--( BUSINESS WIRE )--While global adoption of social networking is still on the rise, other forms of social interactions, such as content creation, experienced no substantial growth in the past year, according to Forrester Research, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR). “ A Global Update Of Social Technographics ®” is based on Forrester’s Consumer Technographics® data from more than 275,000 consumers in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America. The report examines how consumers are engaging with social technologies using Forrester’s global Social Technographics segmentation. “For example, while almost 40 percent of metropolitan Chinese consumers can be classified as Collectors, only 10 percent in Europe are [Collectors]. Social Networking Users are Creating Less Content

The group of users classified as "Creators" - those who record videos, post blog entries, write reviews and post comments to articles online - are less active this year than they were in 2009, with shrinking percentages of users in the majority of markets studied. In the U.S., for example, the Creators category dropped from 24% to 23%. The dips in each region may not seem like a lot - usually only a percentage point or two - but Forrester analyst Jacqueline Anderson says there's still reason to be concerned.

The research firm found that the number of content creators either fell or stayed the same in most of the major markets it surveyed for its latest Consumer Technographics study, including North America, China and Europe.
