Damask love | craft is in session. I swore I wouldn’t do it. I said I would hold out. But then I went to Home Depot one afternoon. And there they were, all pretty and oh so reasonably priced. Succulents. They are pretty much the mason jars of gardening. Very trendy and you see ‘em everywhere. Well…here I a giving in to the trend. Today I am re-posting a guest post I did for the Craft Snob blog – Sara contacted me while I was in vacations in Chile and ask me to be a part of her Handmade Ornament parade while she was away from blogging because of the birth or her lovely daughter Clementine =] I am really excited because now that the tutorial has been shared there, I can also share it here with all of you!

I love birdcages, but I don’t like when birds are in them =[ because they belong free and not secluded in a tiny little space, right? So the birdcages I have are just decorative. Because of my love for birdcages I thought that it could be really cute to have one as an ornament =] the best part is that once the holidays are over you can use this little birdcage to hold pens in your office or just to decorate your favorite space! MAKE IT I love to work with wire, but there are some things you should know. And there you go, a cute and very long-lasting birdcage! Tutorial love Friday – Felt flower roundup. Well awhile back many of you asked for a tutorial on how I make the flower rosettes. I am no expert and these are not original designs but I finally put together a little video on how I was taught to make them. I have to give fair warning. First of all, I have never made a video tutorial nor posted a video on my blog so just keep that in mind. You will also notice that I get a text at some point in the video, my glue gun breaks and I have a terrible time working my fingers. And if you can't stand my voice (or my video) than here are some photos to try and walk you through it. Start with a strip fabric about 2 inches by 18 inches. Then fold the fabric in half. Then fold it in half again. Then start rolling it to form a little bud which will be the center of your flower.

Once the bud is about the size of your fingernail secure it with a little hot glue. Just keeping folding as you go around and around. And don't worry about messing up. I hope you found this tutorial helpful. 46 Awesome String-Light DIYs For Any Occasion. Bird's Party Blog. Do-it-Yourself DIY String Wedding Lanterns Yarn Chandeliers. Jessica of Wednesday Inc shows us how to make those gorgeous twine chandeliers from the inspiration shoot she shared with us this morning. Using balloons, glue and twine, you can also make these lanterns for your wedding – and then bring it home and use it as your very own mid century lampshade.

What you will need are: balloons, glue, yarn, tray for glue, corn starch 1/2 cup of Corn starch, 1/4 cup of Warm water, clear fast drying spray paint, hanging lamp cord or fishing line (depending on your desired final product), and a lighting kit if you’re looking for a fully functional lantern. Jessica recommends using a sharpie to mark on the inflated balloon how much room you need to leave for the lighting cord. She also recommends coating the balloon with vaseline prior to wrapping the yarn coated with glue so it doesn’t stick on the balloon once it’s dry.

You can see all the details on Jessica’s blog. Are you getting excited to try to do this at home as much I am? Instructions: 1. Curbly | DIY Design Community. DIY Projects. DIY | Doily Lantern. The lovely Sarah is back again this month with another fabulous DIY! This one is so simple and chic, I know you all are going to love it! Happy spring, readers! I have been so excited to share this month’s DIY project with you! It is an easy, affordable centerpiece idea that was inspired by Shannon South’s gorgeous upcycled Doily Lamp. I stumbled across this stunning lamp while searching for a unique idea involving doilies, and thought a modified version would be fantastic for this month’s project.

Materials: 4-5 doilies per lamp (preferably round and about 5-6 inches in diameter, depending on the size you want the orb to be. ***Before you start, make sure to wash your doilies by hand with a mild soap and lukewarm water in the sink. Step 1: Take your rubber ball or balloon and place it in a small dish to keep it steady while you work. Step 2: Once you have the doilies arranged how you want them, pour some fabric stiffener onto the palate or wax paper. Have fun and stay crafty! Share: Design Mom. DIY for Disco Divas! 10 DIY Ideas. Even though this was a 1976 theme party, i think some of these DIY projects can be used for weddings or pre-wedding parties. I had a lot of fun planning this event (you can see pics of my past events in previous posts), not only cause it was for my husband, but it was also a challenge to do something "wow" with little to no budget. I used a lot of stuff that i had kicking around at home, and I had all these little square mirrors that were donated to me from a special effects shop, so i used them in a lot of my decor. You can also buy them in bulk on ebay or at the dollar store. - I made the STRINGS OF MIRROR by taping each end of the measured fishing wire to a flat surface (i used my dining table) and leaving a bit extra to tie it to the pipe or hang from the ceiling.- next lay the mirrors upside down centered under the string- add a dab of glue (i used a glue gun)- place another mirror on top before the glue dries- then repeat I made a deal with my friend for the cakes.

DIY Disco Ball Cupcake Toppers. I thought up these disco ball cupcake toppers when I was making plans for New Year's Eve but never got around to actually making them. Had I know just how quick and easy they were, I definitely would have made them with Hunter and Charlotte. I've included instructions below so you can get your disco on! DIY Geodesic Disco-Ball Lamp. Favorite beverages are a guilty pleasure some of us indulge in despite the ecological impact. This suspended light fixture may be the solution for all that repetitive waste, taking scrap modules and turns them slowly into something new and quite crafty. Tetra Pak drink boxes form the basis for this origamic, disco-ball-shaped homage by Ed Chew to Buckminster Fuller and his work on geodesic domes and other super-stable geometric structures. With rhythmic simplicity, a series of used boxes can be folded and converted into pentagonal and hexagonal pieces that slot together forming permeable spheres (or cylinders or other shapes).

The resulting configurations work toward dispersing light from a central hanging, standing or wall-mounted source, while providing mutual stability without the need for adhesives or fasteners. There are a lot of tutorials available online for yarn pom poms, but I recently decided that I want to start posting my own takes on common craft how-tos here on Creature Comforts in order to make this space even more reflective of the things I love.
