Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences - Title Dit is 1 List 1 Title List 2 List 2 Title List 3 List 3 Title List 4 List 4 Job description This project offers a novel perspective on the interplay between news framing effects, emotions, and political attitudes.
For many years, cognitive processing was seen as the basis of political communication effects and the role of emotions received much less attention in scientific research. Yet, over time, scholars have come to acknowledge emotions as a powerful and relevant force within media, politics and journalism. Along these lines, the study of emotions in politics has also sparked interest in the field of news framing effects research. Frames are understood as ways in which issues are presented, emphasizing the salience of certain aspects and downplaying other aspects. In this way, certain attributes, judgments and decisions are suggested. TasksThe candidate is expected to do research and publish on the basis of the research, culminating in a PhD dissertation.
