Heart Handmade UK. Crafts Project List. Category » Workshop. Orange You Glad? Oilcloth Chairs. Now that the constant boy projects have come to an end, I can focus on some neglected areas of our home.

And namely, the HOME itself. We moved-in 6 months ago and really went full-force that first month with the home improvements. But since then, there are many unfinished projects to tidy-up. When the new counter tops went in, we extended the kitchen Island to create a bar for the kids. The stools were my Christmas present and came from good old IKEA (info on the stools HERE). I used one of the IKEA slipcovers as the pattern and appx 1 yard of fabric for each stool. If you’re making your own chair cover:* inspect what’s already on there* measure your cushions* allow a little extra for your seams* figure out a way that works with your chair, bar stool, bench, seat cushion, whatever! My plan was to make my own pattern from their cover and then return that original to the store. Just some basic construction about the slip cover…Each side has a flap that comes down like this: There you go!

Wise Guys - mibostudio. Resurrection fern: Crochet an Orb : A tutorial using a balloon. Yesterday for some reason those string covered balloon decorations popped into my head. I thought it might be interesting to try this with a crochet covered balloon. I decided to made a little tutorial out of it. All you need are basic crochet skills, a large crochet hook, yarn or string ( I used thrifted jute ) , watered down craft glue and a balloon of course. First blow up the balloon to the desired size. Don't over inflate it because it may break when you are crocheting around it later. Next make a crochet chain of about 5 stitiches and join into a circle. Now you can follow the same basic pattern of increases used to make the rock babies and covered stones. I honestly have no idea how my balloon turned into an artist from Paris . From this point on you continue your crocheting with the balloon in place.

I diluted some white craft glue with a little water and painted the entire surface a few times with this mixture. Sunny Vanilla: Whimsical Christmas Tree Garland. In case you've seen it already here, I'm sorry for throwing it in your face a second time. But if you haven't {enter firecracker sounds here} then check it out.

This is a really, really, uber, duber inexpensive project, but I'm not going to lie, it takes some time cutting the circles. If you have older children, you could always ask for help and maybe, just maybe bribe them for a fancy hot chocolate. Or, if you're like me, you can always find some mindless television, a good cushiony chair, and a smidge of wine. Enjoy! To make whimsical Christmas tree garland you will need... Materials old sweater needle thread baker's twine felt pom poms wine corks {one cork per four trees} I found this old sweater at the thrift store for a whopping $2.60. To achieve the the stacked Christmas tree effect, I created several circles using Word.

Once I had my circles cut out, I started tracing them onto a sleeve of the sweater. I did a bunch of the same size first and then moved up the latter to the smaller circles. How About Orange. My 2014 Oscar ballot and bingo game are done! Get set to enjoy Sunday's Academy Awards with friends. It doesn't matter if they watch movies or know who the actors are; anyone can play bingo and it's a good excuse for a party. Download the Oscar ballot PDFDownload the Oscar bingo PDF Save the PDFs to your computer, open them in Adobe Reader, and print. To use the ballot: print one for each guest and have them mark their predictions before the show starts.

To use the bingo cards: 20 different game cards are included in the PDF. Movie theater gift cards, boxes of popcorn, candy, or little Oscar statuettes from a party store make good prizes. Has anybody tried to play with friends long distance? Like every year, a disclaimer: Maybe someone will get a bingo ten minutes into the telecast, or maybe your group won't have a winner at all because my psychic powers have failed this year.

The Haby Goddess. Spin, Weave, and Cut: The Shape of Our Thoughts. Subtitled, "a meditation on and in comics," "The Shape of Our Thoughts," is an exploration of how comics work, what their potential for conveying and exploring meaning is, and a tiny bit on implications for art/and comics education. It's intended as a journal article and culled from material from my dissertation proposal. As this visual-verbal essay embraces the visual as being integral to our thinking, the work proceeds in form as it does in content. The very compositions of each page function to develop the theorizing that is the piece. I sought to create something that addressed the ideas in its very shape throughout, and in doing so i was led to some places i hadn't expected to go in the least.

Anyhow, enough words... - Nick (After the pages themselves, i offer some behind the scenes commentary at some of the details inside.) Notes: P1: So the story my grandmother "tells" here, is fictional. How To Videos. Sharon b's in a minute ago. You Go Girl!: A Firm Foundation. Welcome to Week Three of On the Edge... This Weeks Task: Create a Firm Foundation Difficulty Level: 3 Chocolates A firm foundation...I'd like to have a firm foundation. I try. I work out for an hour almost everyday.

Ok, so I've established that a firm foundation might not be important for me, but it is important for the crochet edging that is going to grace that Posh Pillowcase you stitched up last week. Instructions for a Firm Foundation: Eat a chocolate. Mark every 1/2-inch around the hem of your Posh Pillowcase using a water-soluble marker. Measure a length or yarn that is fifteen times, yes 15, ten and five more times the width of the pillowcase. Thread the needle. Start on the "pocket" edge of your pillowcase.

You will have a little hole like this in your pillowcase. Take the threaded needle up into the "pocket". Take a blanket stitch at every 1/2" mark all the way around the pillowcase. You probably need the other two chocolates about now. Don't forget to take a stitch at each seam. A creative mint. Attic24. Every time I look at this yarn rainbow the very sight of it makes me soooooooo happy!!! Isn't happy colour a wonderful, wonderful thing? I think so, I really do, I feel like I can gaze at these colours and absorb all the vibrant, happy brightness into my soul and feel the warmth radiating. Simple pleasures..... I've had this Sunny yarn in my yarn bag for many months now, 18 shades of Summer Sunshine looking radiant right there.

Some of the colours individually could be quite tricky to work with (bright in-your-face Citron, I'm looking at you here!) You can see in the above photo that I had already chosen the colour order for the first set of stripes - this is a great method if you are making a striped blanket with random colour order. I love it when a stripy blanket reaches the length when you think it could possible make a pretty good scarf. These stripy rows of "granny trebles" are so easy, so relaxing and so meditative, addictive too. .....oooooo, rather suddenly finished! ♥ 1. . ♥ 2.

I had the hardest time finding a planner that I loved and then I found the perfect one at our local General Dollar store. A $2 planner that was perfect needed a new cover. The aqua plastic just would not do. Here are the pieces you'll need for a planner that measures 6" x 9" approx. Cut 2 ~ 13" x 10" main fabric pieces Cut 2 ~ 13" X 10" fusible interfacing (I use Pellon 809/Decor Bond) Cut 2 ~ 11" x 10" coordinating fabric pieces for inside/side pockets.

Iron: 13" x 10" fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the main fabric pieces. Sew & Iron: Stitch 4" by 18" fabric down the middle with a long basting stitch for ruffling. Sew the 1.5" strip of fabric over the center of the ruffle to lock ruffle in place. Iron the 3.5" x 10" fusible interfacing to the back of the ruffle and fold edges in neatly.

Lay ruffle right side down 3.5" from edge of outside of main fabric and pin carefully. You may also pin your vinyl to the opposite side of your main fabric panel. And you are finished! Enjoy! Paper Pom-Pom Gift Toppers {Gift Wrap} via TipJunkie.com. Party Poms Tutorial. My newest favorite party decoration are tissue paper poms.  I first saw them on Etsy and was able to track down instructions on how to make them on Martha Stewart. Since then I’ve made a bunch for different parties and they’ve been a huge hit!

So much so that the four I made for Stella’s birthday party are still hanging in my kitchen. When our friend decided to have a “yellow” themed birthday party I offered to make her some yellow poms because they were so much fun to make. The poms are quite simple and inexpensive at just about $1.00 per pom. I think they would make a great project for 6 years old and up with a bit of supervision. Here’s what the finished product looks like. What you will need to make one large pom: 8-10 pieces of 20×20 tissue paper in any color, the pieces of tissue the fuller your pom will be 5-6″ of thick florists wire or flexible garden tie (I like the garden tie because it won’t accidentally tear the paper) a bit of string to hang your pom with scissors Enjoy!

Of Dreams and Seams: Quick Beauties - Perfect Gifts! Full Tutorial. Have you seen the cool new button in my side bar? Yes, I will hopefully be contributing a couple ideas to the Crafty Christmas Club next week! I'm also posting my projects here, but you really should go check it out for all the other great ideas.

It is not too late to hand-make some really special gifts. My first contribution are these fabric necklaces. Yes I know, they aren't exactly a new idea... I made my first one of these about two years ago, and almost simultaneously similar ones kept popping up everywhere, so I didn't feel like sharing my obviously not very unique idea - yes, I was sulking! However, I decided to show you my version anyway, since it is really quick and even has an upcycling factor to it. List of supplies: Cut off the narrow end of the tie, about at the point where it starts getting wider.

Fold the strip right sides together an sew along the edge to close it. Now close off the second end also with a safety pin and start sewing/wrapping. Best, Katja. Sharon b's In a minute ago ... Intro to Quilting 101. We are now ready to combine the three layers of our quilt sandwich and ‘quilt’ our project. There are a variety of methods for quilting. I’m going to focus on machine quilting, but we’ll discuss others as well. Basting: Basting is a very important step in the quilting process.

It seems tedious, but doing it carefully will result in a professional-looking finished project. Basting is a way to temporarily hold the three layers together while you ‘quilt’. First of all, it is very important that all three layers are smooth and wrinkle free. Smooth the batting and lay your quilt top over the batting. Bring the top/batt to the quilt back and carefully unroll on top of the backing, smoothing all wrinkles as you unroll. Now is the time to baste all layers together. Basting spray is available in the notions of most sewing supply stores.

Pin quilt top starting at the center. Machine Quilting: There are many options for machine quilting. I use a walking foot when I’m quilting. Hand quilting vs. Bunte Nadel - Blog: E-Book BANJU.
