Web. Social. Presentations. Captology. Oreilly. Create Your Own Free Wetpaint Wiki ( Step 1/3 ) - Create a free. Today, the platform was rid of two advertising partners, Chitika and Adversal, who host advertisements on the web. When Travis originally acquired the platform, he placed Google Ads on all the wikis, regardless what content they held.

This worked for a good half a year, but then Google caught some websites with content that violated their policy, and shut down their ads on the sites that were found in violation of their policy. As a resolution to this, Travis added Chitika and Adversal. Any websites created had Chitika and Adversal as the advertisers until the wiki was reviewed to see if it fit Google's guidelines. However, Chiticka and Adversal were starting to become invasive, they messed with formats, and some could be viewed as offensive to some, so they were removed today in favor of some really user-friendly advertisements, made by Travis himself. These ads show up on wikis that have recently been created, and ones that have not been reviewed for their content.

It is easy to claim the revolution is just around the corner, but there might just be something in podcasting, says technology analyst Bill Thompson. After stumbling downstairs this morning and putting the coffee on to brew I opened up my laptop. As I did so, a whole load of software woke up and decided to have a look around, showing far more dedication to the task than I normally manage at 6am.

The system clock read the network time and adjusted itself by a few microseconds, the little weather widget that sits on my desktop checked to see what the temperature was going to be today, and my newsreader software looked at my favourite weblogs to see if their RSS feeds had been updated. Macs and aliens. The Next Net 25: 25 startups that are reinventing the web - Mar. A new Web revolution is picking up steam, and the next Google or Microsoft could emerge from the companies that are in the vanguard. SAN FRANCISCO (Business 2.0 Magazine) - Things are really crackling in Silicon Valley these days. There's the frenzied startup action, the rising rivers of VC cash, even the occasional bubble-icious long-term stock prediction (Google $2,000, anyone?).

There's so much happening that the buzzword recently employed to try to encapsulate the era -- "Web 2.0" -- now seems hopelessly inadequate, defined and redefined into near meaninglessness by squadrons of aspiring entrepreneurs, marketers, and other fortune hunters. So it seems a particularly useful moment to wave away the smoke and home in on what's really core. Don't be distracted by the Valley's hype-o-meter pushing toward the red: There's something very real -- and very powerful -- afoot. We are in the early stages of what might be better thought of as the Next Net. Chinwag Live - Exploring Web 2.0, Digital Business, Online Media. Modern Life - News & Views of the Modern Internet.
