before and after: modern kitchen redo

http://www.designsponge.com/2011/11/before-and-after-modern-kitchen-makeover.html Like most people who live with a rental kitchen, I dream of what I would actually do if I could replace cabinets and move things around. (My dreams are filled with black painted cabinets and sailboat hardware , à la Nate Berkus’ old kitchen.) In her Philadelphia kitchen, wedding and interior designer Claire King wanted to bring a light, modern feel to her 50-year-old home. She also wanted to create an open flow between the dining room and kitchen.

sneak peek: best of backsplashes

http://www.designsponge.com/2011/11/sneak-peek-best-of-backsplashes.html My own kitchen backsplash is an ugly brown tile that looks like something left over from the 1970s. I do my best to cover it up with my cutting boards and try to forget it’s there. I’ve always dreamed of a simple kitchen with a little extra kick in the backsplash area (growing up, my mother displayed tiles she collected from her travels behind our kitchen sink).

sneak peek: annie coggan & caleb crawford

http://www.designsponge.com/2011/11/sneak-peek-annie-caleb-coggan-crawford.html Annie Coggan and Caleb Crawford are design professors in New York City – Annie at FIT, Parsons, and more, while Caleb teaches at City College. Just this fall, after fours years in the South, they moved their home base back to Brooklyn, and Annie is now also the artist-in-residence at Brooklyn’s Textile Arts Center . (We peeked into the couple’s Southern home last year.) A perk of working in education is the summer breaks, and even though the couple keeps most of their time occupied with their work for Coggan and Crawford Architects , they decided to make the most of their summer and move operations up to Belfast, Maine. They bought the house four years ago, and it’s taken three years to renovate. This summer was the first that they didn’t share morning coffee with their contractor, Darren.

VINTAGE & CHIC: decoración vintage para tu casa [] vintage home decor: El piso perfecto (nº 22) [] The perfect apartment (#22)

Hello there! It’s been a busy week with a trip to Seattle for the Picasso exhibition and a drive out to the coast but I knew I had to share this amazing remodel with you before the week came to a close. Everyone loves good makeovers and the ones involving tiny spaces, creative design and ingenious solutions are my all time favorites! Check out how Seattle artist, designer and welder, Michelle de la Vega , created this beautiful little 250 sq. ft. haven… http://downsizemyspace.com/?p=529

5 Ways to Reuse a Wooden Pallet | Sanctuary

http://www.organicauthority.com/sanctuary/5-ways-to-reuse-a-wooden-pallet.html This is a guest post by handmade expert, Brittni Mehlhoff. Re-using discarded materials is an easy way to give back to the environment. But sometimes it can be difficult to come up with ways to re-use old products.
It’s Done. And We Heart It. Isn’t it strange how you can start a project (in this case the gallery of frames that we wanted to “wallpaper” our hallway walls with) and then just leave the other half of it undone for a month. http://www.younghouselove.com/2011/04/its-done-and-we-heart-it/

Well it has taken me long enough…I am finally posting pictures of my room. I don’t feel like searching for ‘before’ pictures, but I’ll tell you the walls were previously chocolate brown and nothing was hanging on any of the walls. When we were engaged a mentor couple encouraged us to always keep our room about us…and not about our kids (thanks Mick & Geni). I liked that idea.

A Beautiful Mess

Today’s post is one of the cutest photoshoots we have ever seen! From the bride’s ruffled blue dress to the adorable pug in a bowtie, everything about it makes us smile. Mandy and Zoe of Dottie Creations and Dottie Photography did all the styling, stationery, and photography themselves! What talented ladies. The fun signage is a super cost effective way to add some major style points to your wedding. And those red shoes–swoon!!
