The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology is a 2005 non-fiction book about artificial intelligence and the future of humanity by inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil. This is his first book to embrace the Singularity as a term, but the ideas contained within are derived from his previous books, the The Age of Spiritual Machines (1999) and The Age of Intelligent Machines (1990).

Kurzweil describes his law of accelerating returns which predicts an exponential increase in technologies like computers, genetics, nanotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence. He says this will lead to a technological singularity in the year 2045, a point where progress is so rapid it outstrips humans' ability to comprehend it. Irreversibly transformed, people will augment their minds and bodies with genetic alterations, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence.

Content[edit] Exponential growth[edit] Computational capacity[edit] Moore's Law The brain[edit] Exponential Growth of Computing. Three Laws of Robotics. This cover of I, Robot illustrates the story "Runaround", the first to list all Three Laws of Robotics. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.[1] The original laws have been altered and elaborated on by Asimov and other authors. Asimov himself made slight modifications to the first three in various books and short stories to further develop how robots would interact with humans and each other. In later fiction where robots had taken responsibility for government of whole planets and human civilizations, Asimov also added a fourth, or zeroth law, to precede the others: 0.

A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm. History[edit] Asimov attributes the Three Laws to John W. The Terminator. Plot[edit] Kyle and Sarah are again attacked by the Terminator, leading to a car chase. Their cars eventually crash and break down. Kyle and Sarah are caught by the police and the Terminator disappears. Kyle is questioned by criminal psychologist Dr. Silberman (Earl Boen) who concludes that he is paranoid and delusional. Sarah is also questioned by Lieutenant Traxler (Paul Winfield) and Detective Vukovich (Lance Henriksen) about the events that happened.

The Terminator tracks them to the motel and Kyle and Sarah escape in a pickup truck. The Terminator, with its flesh coating burned away, continues to pursue them into a factory. Several months later, a pregnant Sarah is traveling through Mexico. Cast[edit] Additional actors included Bess Motta as Ginger Ventura; Rick Rossovich as Matt Buchanan; Dick Miller as the gun shop clerk; Shawn Schepps as Nancy; Bruce M. Production[edit] Development[edit] Cameron's agent hated the idea for The Terminator and told him to work on something else. 99 seconds for the future with Russell Buckley. MobHappy. We’ve officially acquired AdMob! Last Friday, we said that mobile advertising was moving fast. So are we! Today, we closed our acquisition of AdMob.

Omar Hamoui has built a great team and great products at AdMob and we’re thrilled to officially welcome them to Google. We’ll now begin the process of bringing our products and teams together in the best way, and building new products and features together. We’re working to make this integration happen as fast and as seamlessly as possible. It’s clear that mobile advertising is becoming a much larger part of our clients’ and partners’ strategies and with this acquisition, it’s now a central part of our own business.

Mobile search is central One of the key ways that people find and access information on their mobile devices, just like on the desktop, is through search. Increasingly, people aren’t just typing search queries into their mobile devices. In addition to traditional search ads on mobile devices, we’ve worked to develop entirely new search ad formats.
