Sergey Prokofiev and His World, Bard Music Festival, 2008. 2008 was an amazing year for Prokofiev enthusiasts.
Two of his operas, The Gambler and War and Peace, were performed at the Met. The Bard Summer Music Festival gave us a broad perspective on his career and music, including the original version of his Romeo and Juliet ballet in Mark Morris' choreography—something more than a broad perspective, actually, as I shall explain.
