Stack Overflow Architecture Update - Now at 95 Million Page Views a Month

http://highscalability.com/blog/2011/3/3/stack-overflow-architecture-update-now-at-95-million-page-vi.html A lot has happened since my first article on the Stack Overflow Architecture . Contrary to the theme of that last article, which lavished attention on Stack Overflow's dedication to a scale-up strategy, Stack Overflow has both grown up and out in the last few years. Stack Overflow has grown up by more then doubling in size to over 16 million users and multiplying its number of page views nearly 6 times to 95 million page views a month. Stack Overflow has grown out by expanding into the Stack Exchange Network , which includes Stack Overflow, Server Fault, and Super User for a grand total of 43 different sites. That's a lot of fruitful multiplying going on.
I have a confession to make. I use Linux more than I do any other operating system by a wide margin, but I also use a lot of Apple products. In house at the moment are two Mac Minis ; a MacBook Pro, a pair of iPod Touches, and, oh yes, an iPad mark 1. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/open-source/android-meego-and-webos-need-to-get-going-on-tablets-now/8390

Android, MeeGo & WebOS need to get going on tablets: Now

50 Useful Tools and Resources For Web Designers - Smashing Magazine

An effective, well-organized workflow is an important asset of professional web designers. The more useful and time-saving your tools are, the more time you can focus on important things, thus creating a foundation for timely good-quality results. The problem is that there are just way too many tools, services and resources out there, so it has become difficult to keep track on them and find those tiny little time-savers that will spare you headaches and save time in a long run.

Why have another plugin? Dragging and dropping rows within a table can’t be handled by general purpose drag and drop utilities for a number of reasons, not least because you need to move the whole row, not just the cell that receives the mouse events. Re-parenting the row also requires specific code. Sadly also, effects like fadeIn and fadeOut don’t work well with table rows on all browsers, so we have to go for simpler effects. What does it do? This TableDnD plugin allows the user to reorder rows within a table, for example if they represent an ordered list (tasks by priority for example). http://isocra.com/2008/02/table-drag-and-drop-jquery-plugin/

Below is a long list of tools, website, etc that I have used or found on the web. They can be used to help build data visualizations, charts, graphs, etc. Some require no programing and others can be complex. As with most things the more complex the tool the more possibilities for customization exist.

Cool search tricks | Socialmedia.biz

With the help of Gary D. Price, MLIS, of The Resource Shelf , and a handful of articles, I put together a list of Cool Search Engine Tips: • To cut down on results and search only on the page title, type: intitle:”Online journalism” • Find out who’s linking to your web site or blog, use Google like so: link:jdlasica.com/blog or AlltheWeb like this: link.all:jdlasica.com/blog . (AlltheWeb seems a better choice here.)
