It is time for California to decriminalize, tax and regulate marijuana and decide who sells it, who can buy it legally, and for how much. When California became the first state to approve medical marijuana, we led the nation on progressive drug policies, and now it is time to lead again. Bolstered by growing public support and building on our initial leadership, Californians must renew our push for common-sense marijuana policy by developing a state level regulatory system and lead the national effort to end draconian laws that favor incarceration over education.

In California, San Francisco has taken the lead in reforming ineffective drug laws and changing the conversation around substance use. Medical marijuana laws, marijuana decriminalization, and the efforts to reduce the state's prison population make us a strong voice for change. But it is not enough. We stand at a time where science and common sense must trump age-old fear and propaganda. California Marijuana Legalization Backers Hope To Get Measure Onto 2014 Ballot. SAN FRANCISCO -- The push to legalize marijuana, both in its standard and non-psychoactive hemp forms, is alive and well in California.

The California Cannabis, Hemp and Health Initiative plans to start collecting the necessary 500,000+ signatures this May to get a measure on the 2014 ballot that would legalize marijuana in many forms. The bill would specifically allow both the growing and possession of marijuana, direct the legislature to establish a regulatory, taxation and licensing structure for the retail sale of cannabis, legalize industrial hemp production and prohibit state officials from enforcing federal law (which explicitly states that pot is illegal) over state law. Some drug law reformers have questioned the wisdom of aiming for a 2014 legalization ballot measure. As a mid-term election, it likely won't draw the same level of interest as something put before voters in 2016.

As such, many legalization backers plan on targeting their resources for 2016. Related on HuffPost: News and Updates. How to make money on violating copyrights! - motionVFX Blog. We are living in very interesting times. We are being molded by the environment and we are trying to pass the upbringing we received onto our children. I have a saying I like to repeat: "We create the history". I imagine that everyone, who works in this branch of business (special effects, video editing and motion graphics) agrees with that statement.

What is more, we also create the future. This article was written for everybody, who buys plugins and lives in a motion graphics; Apple Motion, Adobe Premiere, AE & Final Cut X world. My name is Szymon Masiak, I am the founder and owner of MotionVFX. We believe in hard, honest work. On February 5th 2013 about 3:49 PM (GMT+1) we released a brand new product called mDusts. Every company that is a part of the Final Cut Pro X environment keeps an eye on the competition and, from my experience, everyone tries to stay out of each other's way. The first thing our team shouted after watching the competition's promo was: "These are our mDusts! ". Want to Buy a Gun Without a Background Check? Armslist Can Help. In 2007, US Air Force Academy graduate Jon Gibbon saw a television interview about Craigslist that got him thinking. The online classifieds site had decided to reject ads for firearms, and Gibbon thought he had spotted an opportunity.

"When I heard them say that they decided to ban all gun-related ads because a few users cried out for it, it inspired me to create a place for law-abiding gun owners to buy and sell online without all of the hassles of auctions and shipping," he told Human Events in 2010. So Gibbon hooked up with his academy buddy Brian Mancini, and two years later the pair launched a website they thought was destined to fill a natural void in the online marketplace: Armslist, a website devoted specifically to the private sales of guns and related gear. The site allows private sellers to offer guns for sale to other private purchasers. Armslist quickly took off. The Vesel case is not the only murder involving a weapon procured through Armslist.

The stage from Mitt Romney's election gathering at the Boston Convention… (Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles…) Mitt Romney told his top donors Wednesday that his loss to President Obama was a disappointing result that neither he nor his top aides had expected, but said he believed his team ran a “superb” campaign with “no drama,” and attributed his rival’s victory to “the gifts” the administration had given to blacks, Hispanics and young voters during Obama’s first term.

Obama, Romney argued, had been “very generous” to blacks, Hispanics and young voters. He cited as motivating factors to young voters the administration’s plan for partial forgiveness of college loan interest and the extension of health coverage for students on their parents’ insurance plans well into their 20s. Free contraception coverage under Obama’s healthcare plan, he added, gave an extra incentive to college-age women to back the president. Two U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles and a B-2 bomber fly in formation. Photo: USAF Should the U.S. actually take Benjamin Netanyahu’s advice and attack Iran, don’t expect a few sorties flown by a couple of fighter jocks. Setting back Iran’s nuclear efforts will need to be an all-out effort, with squadrons of bombers and fighter jets, teams of commandos, rings of interceptor missiles and whole Navy carrier strike groups — plus enough drones, surveillance gear, tanker aircraft and logistical support to make such a massive mission go.

And all of it, at best, would buy the U.S. and Israel another decade of a nuke-free Iran. There’s been a lot of loose talk and leaked tales about what an attack on Iran might ultimately entail. Anthony Cordesman, one of Washington’s best-connected defense analysts, has put together a remarkably detailed inventory of what it would take to strike Iran (.pdf), cataloging everything from the number of bombers required to the types of bombs they ought to carry. Russel Torralba And Alfredo Ruiz Allegedly Engaged In Sex Acts With 98-Year-Old Stroke Patient. Two male nurses in San Diego are being investigated after security camera footage shows them fondling a 98-year-old stroke victim and each other in her bedroom.

The footage, taken between March 3 and March 11, 2011, shows Russel Torralba and Alfredo Ruiz apparently masturbating and groping each other at the foot of their patient's bed, XETV reported. A 98-year-old woman lies unable to speak or move her hands because of a stroke. In one video, one of the men appears to be undoing his scrubs and exposing himself. Another shows the same man kissing the woman. William Berman, attorney for the woman's family. said he was shocked by the videos. "I myself couldn't believe it," Berman told XETV-TV, adding that it was the most shocking case of elder abuse he's seen in 15 years of practice in that specialty. Torralba and Ruiz have had their nursing licenses suspended pending a hearing next week and the San Diego District Attorney's office is considering criminal charges.

Herhold: Why you should be skeptical about two local tax measures. Posted: 10/15/2012 02:21:28 PM PDT0 Comments A wise editor at the Mercury News used to tell her young reporters that before you told the big story, you should tell the small one.

By that, she meant that you should search for the revealing anecdote or detail to illustrate an issue that could cause readers' eyes to glaze over. In that vein, let me remind you of two stories that suggest why you ought to be skeptical of the one-eighth cent sales tax for Santa Clara County (Measure A), and the "Safe, Clean Water'' parcel tax for the Santa Clara Valley Water District (Measure B). The first story is about a free lunch. In August, the directors of the Santa Clara Valley Water District realized that their ballot description for their $548 million parcel tax was too long. So they convened for a three-minute 11 a.m. meeting to slice two words from the statement. The work induced hunger. The bodyguard The second story involves a bodyguard. Nomi Prins November 22, 2011 Often, when I troll around websites of entities like the ECB and IMF, I uncover little of startling note. They design it that way. Plus, the pace at which the global financial system can leverage bets, eviscerate capital, and cry for bank bailouts financed through austerity measures far exceeds the reporting timeliness of these bodies. That’s why, on the center of the ECB’s homepage, there’s a series of last week’s rates – and this relic – an interactive Inflation Game (I kid you not) where in 22 different languages you can play the game of what happens when inflation goes up and down. What you can’t do is see what happens if you bet trillions of dollars against various countries to see how much you can break them, before the ECB, IMF, or Fed (yes, it’ll happen) swoops in to provide “emergency” loans in return for cuts to pension funds, social programs, and national ownership of public assets. Greek banks bought US-minted AAA assets and leveraged them.

Porn Stars Jessica Drake, James Deen Protest Condom-Only Measure With Humorous PSA (VIDEO, NSFW)

Porn performers Jessica Drake and James Deen are hoping to raise awareness -- and possibly other things -- with a new political ad that protests a controversial condom-only porn measure on the ballot in Los Angeles. Under Measure B adult film producers must obtain a health permit before filming and performers must use condoms while engaged in sex. It also calls for health officials to be on working sets. Violators would be subject to fines and criminal charges. The measure is arousing the ire of porn performers like Deen and Drake who have filmed a satirical public service announcement depicting future porn, wherein sex workers perform with safety goggles and protective headgear while getting down to business. The climax of the porn film PSA is when Deen almost chokes on a dental dam. "We're not mocking safe sex," Deen stressed to The Huffington Post. "In 1998, the industry went condom only [for a brief time]," he told The Huffington Post.

The condom-only policy in 1998 was rolled back. William Liddell Allegedly Punched Cops, Pooped His Pants In Florida.
