De beschikbaarheid van de scans van de collectie Kadastrale Kaarten 1811-1832 uit WatWasWaar krijgt bij de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) een doorstart. De meest omvangrijke collectie die WatWasWaar beheert, bestaat uit scans van de collectie Kadastrale Kaarten 1811-1832. De fysieke originelen worden beheerd door de Regionale Historische Centra (waaronder het BHIC). De scans van deze collectie worden alleen binnen WatWasWaar op één plek (vrijwel geheel) landsdekkend beschikbaar gesteld.
De gehele collectie scans is vanuit WatWasWaar overgedragen aan de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE). Daarnaast bevat WatWasWaar nog diverse andere collecties of "kaartlagen". Van Woonomgeving naar WatWasWaar naar... Sinds 2012 wordt de website van WatWasWaar beheerd en gefinancierd vanuit het project Erfgoed & Locatie (E&L) en nu dit project wordt afgerond, betekent dat ook het einde van WatWasWaar. Scientists have mapped the effects of war, colonization, trade, migration and slavery on the genetic mixing of humans over the bulk of recorded history and created an online interactive atlas of humanity's genetic history.
In a paper published Thursday in the journal Science, researchers detailed the genetic mixing between 95 populations across Europe, Africa, Asia and South America during 100 historical events over the last 4,000 years. The events covered in the interactive atlas include the expansion of the Mongol empire by Genghis Khan, the Arab slave trade, the so-called Bantu expansion into Southern Africa, and European colonialism. When people from different groups interbreed, their offspring's DNA becomes a mixture of both admixing groups. Scientists say pieces of this DNA are passed down to following generations, although the size of the segments become smaller and smaller. One such example involved the legacy of the Mongol empire, researchers said.

Bethune is best known for his service in war time medical units during the Spanish Civil War and with the People's Liberation Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He developed the first mobile blood-transfusion service in Spain in 1936. A Communist, he wrote that wars were motivated by profits, not principles. Tracing Ancestry, Researchers Produce a Genetic Atlas of Human Mixing Events. The rise and fall of empires, the march of armies, the flow of trade routes, the practice of slavery — all these events have led to a mixing of populations around the world. Such episodes have left a record in the human genome, but one that has so far been too complex to decipher on a global scale. Now, geneticists applying new statistical approaches have taken a first shot at both identifying and dating the major population mixture events of the last 4,000 years, with the goal of providing a new source of information for historians.
Some of the hundred or so major mixing events they describe have plausible historical explanations, while many others remain to be accounted for. For instance, many populations of the southern Mediterranean and Middle East have segments of African origin in their genomes that were inserted at times between A.D. 650 and 1900, according to the geneticists’ calculations.
