In Iowa City yesterday, Bachmann, who has been no stranger to surprise challenges of her stance on gay rights this year, was called on to support equality by a “gay robot”. Calling himself “roboprof”, the heckler approached the politician in a silver costume with a loudspeaker outside Hamburg Inn No. 2 restaurant.

Le juge Charles Campbell, de la Cour supérieure, a condamné Brandon McInerney après avoir tenu compte d'une entente conclue avec les procureurs, selon laquelle il sera expédié en prison à compter de janvier, soit une fois qu'il aura atteint l'âge de la majorité. Vêtu d'un chandail blanc et d'un pantalon bleu, McInerney n'a pas parlé pendant l'audience, mais son avocat, Scott Wippert, a déclaré que son client s'excusait d'avoir tué Larry King, qui était âgé de 15 ans en février 2008. Selon Me Wippert, McInerney éprouve de profonds remords et s'il pouvait reculer dans le temps et effacer son geste, il le ferait en un instant. McInerney a plaidé coupable à une accusation de meurtre non prémédité, de même qu'à un chef d'accusation d'homicide volontaire et d'utilisation d'une arme à feu, lui évitant ainsi un nouveau procès. En septembre, son procès avait été annulé lorsque les membres du jury n'ont pu s'entendre sur le degré de culpabilité de l'accusé.
Le fanzine gay «Butt» publie son dernier numéro
Après quasiment deux ans d'absence, le fanzine gay Butt publie ces jours-ci son n°29 (automne-hiver 2011) et ce sera son ultime numéro, son chant du cygne, annoncent ses deux fondateurs Gert Jonkers et Jop van Bennekom. CONTRE-PROGRAMMATION En l'espace de 10 ans, Butt aura à coup sûr marqué le paysage des publications gays. Face à l'imagerie homo standardisée des années 90 (le Ken épilé au sourire Ultra Brite, pour aller vite), le fanzine sur papier rose pas du tout glacé a joué la contre-programmation totale en misant sur le mélange des styles (bears, twinks et boys next door en tout genre), les interviews déjantées hors promo, les photos de lecteurs à poil côtoyant celles des people… à poil aussi. En s'inspirant d'illustres prédécesseurs (le mythique Straight To Hell , qui existe toujours, Magazine , etc.), Butt a réussi à accommoder l'esprit libertaire des années 70 et du début des années 80 à la sauce des années 2000.

Thomas Beatie of Bend, who was born a woman and did not have his female reproductive organs surgically removed when he legally became a man in 2002, told an interview with syndicated program "The Doctors" he will not be having any more children, Radar Online reported Monday. Beatie, who gave birth to children Susan, Austin and Jensen after his wife Nancy was found to be infertile, said he had to go off his male hormones during each pregnancy and a hysterectomy will help stabilize him as a male.

Une tribu amérindienne légalise le mariage homosexuel
La tribu amérindienne des Suquamish, dans l' Etat de Washington (nord-ouest des Etats-Unis) a modifié sa Constitution pour rendre légal le mariage entre personnes de même sexe, a-t-on appris mercredi 3 août auprès de ses représentants légaux. Cette décision n'a aucune valeur légale au niveau fédéral, ni même au niveau de l'Etat de Washington – qui ne reconnaît pas le mariage homosexuel – mais elle permet à tout Suquamish homosexuel de se marier dans le cadre de sa tribu. Le texte, défendu par une jeune lesbienne Suquamish, a été approuvé lundi à l'unanimité par les 7 membres du conseil de la tribu, qui compte 1 050 membres. "Il n'y a pas eu de controverse parmi les membres de la tribu, et les anciens de la communauté ont soutenu les demandes des plus jeunes" , a déclaré Michelle Hansen , avocate des Suquamish. "C'est une tradition chez nous d'être ouverts, d' accepter les personnes différentes" , a-t-elle ajouté.
La Cour suprême rejette un appel contre le mariage gay à Washington
La Cour suprême des Etats-Unis a rejeté mardi un appel demandant l'annulation du mariage homosexuel dans la capitale fédérale américaine, Washington DC. Sans donner d'explication, la plus haute juridiction a refusé de se saisir d'un recours déposé par un pasteur conservateur noir, Harry Jackson, qui attaquait la ville de Washington (District of Columbia) pour ne pas avoir soumis à un vote par référendum sa décision d'autoriser le mariage des couples homosexuels. Il s'agit d'un revers pour les opposants au mariage gay, alors que la question de son autorisation en Californie (ouest) devrait à son tour atteindre la Cour suprême.
The state's largest gay rights group is running its second statewide television advertising campaign aimed at warming Oregon hearts and minds to same-sex marriage. Basic Rights Oregon is in the second week of a three-week ad campaign on network and cable television stations that is expected to reach 750,000 Oregonians. The group ran a similar campaign last summer and has been working more than two years to engage Oregonians on the issue of same-sex marriage through community meetings, neighborhood canvassing and house parties.

All of the gay couples who applied to wed on the first day gay marriage is legal in New York will be able to do so. The new law comes into power on Sunday and as the city can only cope with so many ceremonies officials ran a lottery to determine who could wed on the day. It was predicted that register offices around the city could cope with 764 couples but when 823 couples – 59 more – signed up, officials decided to accommodate them all. More than 530 couples have asked to wed at the city’s Manhattan register office.
New York city extends gay marriage plans
An anti-gay group in New York has filed a lawsuit against the city’s new marriage laws. The group, called New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, claims the state Senate acted illegally when it voted to approve a gay marriage bill earlier this year. According to the lawsuit, the Senate violated the state’s Open Meetings Laws by failing to follow procedures. The group claims the Senate illegally prevented opposing senators from speaking and did not send the bill to the appropriate committees.
