View topic - Advanced technic to bail out in air loft . Tone wrote: this is a stupid thread which I hope no one listens to.. if you get lofted you are going DOWN WIND/up a bit... when you are jumping off a mountain you are going upwind and thus have your weight and glide to counteract. if you were to loop when lofted you will only end up disturbing the flow on the kite, going faster downwind and end up with less weight in the kite. Toby this thread needs to be pulled before someone dies trying this stupidness. Please watch my movie carefully and read the advices that I have written there!!! When I jumped I didn't go upwind (in the valley), because it was a low ascendent curent , I flew perpendicular on the direction of the wind and a little bit downwind.

Sometimes , when I did kiteloop ,I was "going faster downwind " (up hill) ,but I controled the landing as you can see at 3:10 (minute) ( for shure the wind blows from the valey , and the lanscape that you can see in the upwind is in other movie ... the water !! Speed

Speed Kitesurfing. Contrary to the popular belief, one of the most attractive sensation in kitesurfing is speed. While kitesurfing is somewhat slow on a beam reach or a close reach, it is extremely fast on a broad reach. As a beginner, everyone will have to go through a period of down-wind-runs and most probably still remember the speed sensation; however, as soon as one gets better, is able to control the downwind drift to start to "come back to where one started" and learn to jump, the speed sensation gradually disappears due to the new distractions. If you want to get back the speed sensation of those earlier days in a more control fashion, here are some of the tips and theories we have collected based on our experiences and a number of private emails in the past regarding how to go fast: The Theories, the Places and Equipment Selection: So far, the general impression is that flat inflatables with their high performance and full depowered capability seems to be the kite to break speed record.

If lines are twisted, you just rotate the swivel above the chickenloop. If I had to quick release I would, Like Paul Menta does in this video. If the problem was a broken front line, I would like Cabrinha to check out the options and explain what is the best way to proceed. I chose to mostly use Cabrinha kites because of the easy packdown with IDS.When I finish a session, I set the kite at 45 degrees and pull down the centreline until I get to the swivel at the bottom of the front lines. That activates the IDS and the kite drops to one side and then flips over into the parked position and as long as I keep the bar close to the water, it will stay there. In shallow water when I get close to the kite winding the lines on the bar, I have to avoid lifting the nose of the kite off the water or it might take off - albeit very depowered.

Peter's kiteboarding blog: Self rescue. Hi, my name is Stuart Webb - I've shared some great adventures with Peter over the last year or so, and thought I'd share some tips that have helped me out. I've been kiting for about 6 years and last week I had a bit of a disaster. One of the pulleys on my Switchblade (IDS 10m) broke on one of the leading edge lines.

The wind was about 25 knots and the kite just kept on picking up and spinning around. It took me some time to figure out which line had been broken, by which time the lines had become very tangled and I was unsure as to the best way to handle the situation. After a forum discussion, the consensus for self rescue procedure is Self Rescue Procedure Depower Get as much depower as possible. Self Rescue Procedure (Switchblade) In my instance, I have a 2009 Cabrinha Switchblade IDS. How to Self Launch a Bow Kite. Self Launching a bow kite is very easy and safe to do. We will also highly recommend that you try to do this for the first time together with someone standing by just in case things do start to go wrong for you. 1.

Self Launching a Bow kite. Kiteboard Leash - Alternative Board Recovery System. The GoJoe 2.0 is a safe alternative to the board leash. It is mounted to the top of your kiteboard and acts a sail/ float for your board. It makes it easy to see from water level. In addition, the GoJoe will right your board when face down. The float flips over you kiteboard, and then acts as a sail to drift you board downwind towards you faster. There is no potential hazard like the board leash. No more kiteboarding leash! Traditional surfboard style leashes used to connect kiters with their boards have proven to be dangerous in both the water and on land. The GO – Joe™ is an inflatable tube structure attached to deck of the kiteboard that uses the natural forces of buoyancy distribution and wind to roll you kite board right side up and accelerate it down wind. It holds 400kg's, you can self land in confidence without worrying about the sandbag moving. If a gust is strong enough to snap the 400kg breaking point, then you probably don't want to be holding the lines or still attached to the kite because thats one big &^$# gust.

As a bonus, its also Aussie designed and made so you can feel patriotic about your purchase. (in WA too) I bought two of these rapid Anchors because most of the areas that I expected to Kite, I would have to launch & land myself.
