When you’re about to launch a new product or service, you need some buzz.
Raise your hand if you’ve heard of relationship marketing. Now keep it up if you know what it means. Lots of hands still up, huh?
The advertising world is obsessed with “eyeballs.” If you want to sell ads on your blog, for example, you’ll have to show potential advertisers how many unique users are coming to the site each week–how many eyeballs are looking at your stuff.
But only if, during the long-gone good-times, your business had been on cruise control and you got complacent, fat and lazy, and saw your customers as dollar signs and not people. Without naming names, some marketers are clearly suffering far less than others, because they cared to look deep into their customer’s eyes and not just plumb the depths of their wallets.
