Innovation Week 2012 – theatrical tools and service design. What has the theatre got to do with designing better services? On Friday 8 June our team participated in a workshop that made the connection. As part of GovJam for Innovation Week, we brought to Canberra Adam StJohn Lawrence and Markus Edgar Hormeß from Work Play Experience, a European service design and customer experience consultancy.

Adam and Markus are the initiators of the Global Service Jam, an event we participated in earlier this year, and helped us run the inaugural global GovJam event. As part of their visit Adam and Markus also facilitated a training workshop, undertaken with our colleagues from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, where we as participants used theatrical tools to unpack and understand services. The workshop began with a group work ’whole of brain’ exercise. Adam and Markus then explained that there were three rules for the workshop: Doing not talkingPlay seriouslyUse what you have. گزارش برگزاری برنامه "دورهم برای طراحی خدمات عمومی" + English Version. Tehran GOV Jam 2012 During the past few years design community and especially many service designers are being connected through a platform held by a group called “Work. Play. Experience” consisting of two people: Markus Edgar Hormess and Adam St.

John Lawrence. This time it was Canberra, Australia that asked for their help to hold a public service design event with the available platform. Though it was hard to initiate a global event in such a short time, the experience helped and initiators and organizers held strong to make another global experience in design community, called “GOV Jam”. IDreporter group in Tehran was about to participate with a mini jam of 4-10 people, but after spending the first evening with just 2 people getting together, we decided to use our plan B. We made an affinity diagram of all the ideas on the wall and made 6 groups and asked people to join in, eventually we made 4 groups of 4-7 people each and started the separate processes of designing a public service.

Customer Experience Trends for 2012 – Part 2 « Proto Partners' Service Design Blog. 2012 is fast approaching. To make sure your customer experience resolutions are more practical this time around, we are providing you with our thoughts on some customer trends in 2012. Trendwatching.com have put together “12 Crucial Consumer Trends for 2012”. This provided a brief overview of 12 “must-know” consumer trends to assist companies in exploring creative and innovation opportunities to meet the changing needs of the consumer. Last week we brought to your attention, the customer trend of ‘red carpet’ – where businesses personalises their service offerings to make customers believe they are individually valued by the company.

Dealer Chic is a consumer trend which suggests that customers are becoming conditioned to expect deals for everything. Remember the time you waxed lyrical to a friend about your gastronomic experience at Kobe Jones. Securing the best deal is becoming a ‘way of life’ and a way in which customers gain pride and status. Why? Image courtesy of thinkcvox Like this: Customer Experience Trends for 2012 « Proto Partners' Service Design Blog. It’s that time of the year when you start to draft your New Year resolutions and you want to have a glimpse of what’s ahead to make sure that this time around the resolutions are achievable. Trendwatching.com have put together “12 Crucial Consumer Trends for 2012”. They provided a brief overview of 12 “must-know” consumer trends to assist companies in exploring creative and innovation opportunities to meet the changing needs of the consumer.

The top 5 consumer trends that we found most relevant to the customer experience are: Red CarpetDealer-ChicFlawsomeEmerging MaturialismPoint & Know One of the first consumer trends we thought relevant was— ‘red carpet’ Red carpet as a trend is explained as when businesses tailor their services and perks to pamper customers with (an individual-level of) attention and respect. I think what they are trying to say is that the customer experience is a highly subjective experience. In the mean time, here is an excerpt from the trendwatching article. Some stats: Damian Kernahan's Photo. Our Story | Do Gooder. Yes it's new but it's also the result of 10 years crafting campaigns by the good people at Digital Eskimo. We cut our first campaign during the 2000 Olympics before (unsuccessfully) trying to Stop Mobil and (more successfully) promote True Food for Greenpeace Australia.

We followed this with an award winning refugee campaign for Amnesty International which helped end proposed inhumane changes to refugee laws. We learnt a lot about campaigning within the fast paced political cycle during our two years working on the Your Rights at Work campaign. And to make it easier to celebrate later that year we helped Raise the Bar in NSW Australia, updating outdated licensing laws that were holding back a vibrant small bar culture. That's nearly 10 years of life at the online campaigning (anti!) Successful online campaigns require a lot of work – to research properly, to strategise thoroughly, to design with consideration, to test and refine, to code, test, deploy – all with an eye to quality.

Something big.www.globalservicejam.org - @GSJam - #GSJ11 Over the last few years, we've watched with fascination as service design has grown from a fringe discipline into something large organisations are not only embracing, but beginning to embed into their in-house operations. Now—if the twittersphere is anything to go by—the service design community is gearing up for quite a celebration of this worldwide influence.

On Friday 11th March, service designers will gather with a whole host of creatives, academics, industry experts and social innovators in around 50 locations across the globe, to spend the weekend designing new services around a theme to be revealed when it all kicks off.
