Mood in Iceland In an article published in the New York Times last weekend, Mark Sundeen describes a journey around Iceland on road number 1, commonly known as the "hringvegur" or the Ring Road. In an article titled "Ultimate Road Trip", Sundeen describes the landscape as "sublime and melancholy" and imagines that "this was how it felt to drive California's coast 75 years ago, downshifting on the sharp bends in the gravel road, idling before a one-lane bridge while an oncoming car made its crossing.
