Yeah, that project fell by the wayside. (Too many projects! Too little time!) Today, though, I present to you a two-fer: two sock patterns updated to use stitch maps in addition to traditional charts and written instructions. First up, Corrine: Corrine And Yachats: Yachats Both are anklets. Clematis, from A Compendium of Knitted Stitch Patterns by Shelagh Hollingworth This makes the Corrine pattern an easy introduction to stitch maps. Yachats has a couple beefier stitch maps, including one of my favorites, Rivulets: Rivulets, a variation on Vine Stripe by Barbara Walker With Rivulets (and the Little Waves pattern on the cuff), Yachats makes fabulous use of stitch maps.

Yeah, okay, so I’m a little passionate about stitch maps. Long-time readers of this blog will remember Jolie, a lace scarf knit in Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine. Happy Mother's Day!

Hope it was a special one! My sister and I took my mom out for lunch and then it was a family photoshoot of socks in Mom's backyard! I think my mom has become my go-to sock model! And my sister, I think she enjoyed the photoshoot setup. Of course, Mom didn't mind modeling her Mother's Day gift. These were finished just in the nick of time late last night! Pattern: Merrily Yarn: Socks that Rock lightweight, colorway Sassafras But the favorite part of the phootshoot was my mom modeling my Grandma socks.

Girl on the Rocks - Member of the SF Etsy team. Wool Candy. I can't believe Rhinebeck was just about a month ago! We had absolutely the BEST trip to New York. So much fun. So. Much. Fun. I came home with a big order from a new retailer -- Knitty City, right there in Manhattan, and I've been crazy busy trying to get their order out the door before I leave again for the weekend, to go to Joshua Tree to camp and climb.

Anywho, our trip!! I took quite a few pictures, which you can see in my flickr stream. We landed late on Wednesday night, and Mari took us for a stroll to Times Square, two blocks from their apartment. Thursday, George had to work a bit in the morning, so we just chilled a bit at Mari and Yutaka's, then headed to the Shake Shack, around the corner from Mari and Yutaka's place, for lunch. George got a Shack Stack. And the crinkle cut fries: all those crinkles add so much crispiness. Okay, I realize I've just spent way too long waxing ecstatic about one burger joint. Moving on. Seriously good, delicious, wonderful fresh food. See? Yeah... This week PROMO. I like cake! » Blog Archive » Kingslayer. So. Sock Summit. Sock Summit was pretty much everything that I might have hoped for.

So. Sock Summit.

Amazing people. Fabulous yarns. Outstanding classes. Voodoo doughnuts. I have to say I hated the lighting in the convention center – a migraine inducing set of yellowish fluorescents that had me on a steady dose of Imitrex, leaving me pretty loopy a lot of the time. It was almost too much to believe at times. Parts of the trip were lonely and sad though. The Ravelry party was big fun and I was glad I made myself go when what I really wanted to do was to hide in my hotel room.

I didn't have any particular shopping list and so I bought the things that really called to me. All of these pretties make me happy! At every fiber event I've gone to there is always one particular yarn that captures my heart and I find myself going back to that booth in a vain attempt to talk myself out of buying it.
