André Lima's Origami Style ~ Trend de la Creme - Trends in fashion, style, beauty, design, and popular culture. Having spent several of my formative years in the company of Japanese exchange students, I am no stranger to origami. So, when I read that the inspiration behind his André Lima's Spring 2009 collection was 'geometric effect' I had to do a double take.

Yes, hard edges are certainly present in both geometry and origami, but how does one explain why each dress bears a striking resemblance to some of these origami classics? Origami Luminaries. Lang here to talk about today’s doodle in honor of Akira Yoshizawa. Lang is considered one of the world’s masters of the art of origami. His design techniques are used by origami artists around the world, and he lectures widely on the connections between origami art, science, mathematics and technology. - Ed. Akira Yoshizawa (1911–2005) is widely regarded as the father of the modern origami art form. Over the course of his life, he created tens of thousands of origami works and pioneered many of the artistic techniques used by modern-day origami artists, most notably the technique of wet-folding, which allowed the use of thick papers and created soft curves, gentle shapes and rounded, organic forms. Yoshizawa took up Japan's traditional folk art of origami in his 20s, and eventually left his job at a factory to focus full-time on his origami creations. I had the great fortune to meet Yoshizawa several times. Satoshi Kamiya.

Hello I am a professional origami artist and author and I've been folding paper for over 30 years. I never cease to be amazed by the geometric possibilities and sheer beauty that lies dormant within a sheet of paper, waiting for the careful hand of the folder to awaken it.

Over the years, origami has brought me many friends, has inspired, amused and intrigued me, as well as being a source of income. I have been a member of the British Origami Society for over 25 years and edited their magazine as well as maintaining their website since 1996. I have created several hundred original designs.

Let me unlock the potential of origami for your creative campaigns!

Each origami design must be individually folded; there is no mass-production process. My designs are folded from selected papers, some of which I have made myself, others obtained from master artisans, each paper chosen to complement the design and composition. All of the art pieces on display in the galleries are my own compositions. The work to the right is my newest composition; click on the image, or any of the sections below, to learn more.

Compositions Origami, like music, permits both composition and performance as expressions of the art. Commercial Art Origami can be used effectively in web, print, and television advertising and I have created commissioned pieces for several print, television, and animation projects. Collector Art I do most of my work on commission, both for commercial usage and for private collectors. For all commissioned work please contact me for price and availability. Metal Sculptures.
