Thinking Matters because Stupid Hurts - News from the Thinking Matters world. Thinking Christian. The Tentative Apologist. Martin Luther is a darling of the internet infidel community not least because he provided many quotable tidbits which can be invoked at will to marginalize Christians as being "irrational" or "anti-reason".

Take the case of Jag. In reference to the claim that faith is opposed to reason he noted "Martin Luther would have strenuously agreed. " When I pointed out that Luther's rhetorical sweeps against "reason" should be read in historical context as attacks on late medieval scholasticism, Jag responded like this: "Interesting. So when Luther wrote: "Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but — more frequently than not — struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God. " and "Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. The Scriptorium — Welcome to The Poached Egg Christian Worldview and Apologetics Network. The Official Peter Kreeft Site - Introduction. Emotivism is the view that moral statements are subjective statements about a person's own attitudes toward behaviors. "Murder is wrong," is just another way of saying, "I hate murder. " One way moral objectivists try to persuade others of their point of view is by conjuring up the most heinous scenarios they can think of in hopes that the other person's moral intuitions will rise to the surface and they will realize that they already believe in objective morality.

For example, they'll say things like, "If there are no objective moral values, then there's nothing really wrong with mother stabbing and father raping. It's just a matter of personal preference or social convention. " Some people object to this tactic on the basis that it makes a false appeal to emotions. When I reflect about my own moral intuitions and the emotions that are sometimes associated with them, it seems obvious to me that they are not the same thing. Pensées. Home | Paul Gould. Paul Copan. (NOTE TO READER: We are going to do something special for Easter and attempt to encourage each other instead of getting into eternal debates which need heavy moderation (which we have already done on the non-revised version of this article). I want everyone to comment, believer and skeptic alike. But all I want you to post is what you personally find to be the most convincing evidence about the resurrection.

It could be something listed here or it could be something else. All comments that don’t follow this rule will not be approved.) Just as we test the historicity of any event, not through emotional conviction, but with historical evidence, I would like to devote some time to laying out a brief historical case for the Resurrection of Christ, the central issue of the Christian faith. If Christ rose from the grave, it is all true and we just have to work out the details. If Christ did not raise from the grave, Christians are to be pitied ( 1 Cor. 15:13-19 ). GraceThruFaith. Francis chan. Almost two years ago, my family and I were in Asia trying to figure out where the Lord wanted us to live and minister. While apartment hunting in Hong Kong, I had a strong sense that God wanted me to return to the US. There was more I was supposed to do in convincing Christians to make disciples. It was all a bit overwhelming as I couldn’t fathom how I could change the mindset of the millions who believe that being “fishers of men” and making “disciples” is the pastor’s job. At the same time, I was excited about pursuing a vision that was too difficult for me.

I told the Lord that I could not do this on my own, but also that I would not “recruit” anyone. I trusted that if He wanted me to do this, then He would bring people my way. Right after I returned to the States, I spoke at the Passion conference. He spoke about how he believed that every believer needed to be a disciple maker. After several conversations and prayer, we decided there was no reason for us to do this separately. Flatland Apologetics. Five Sided Christian. Dr. Norman Geisler - Home Page. David Berlinski.
