This survey will be published twice a year ahead of the European Councils in Spring and Autumn and includes UEAPME’s SME Business Climate Index, which is calculated as the average of the current situation and the expectations about the next period and sums positive and neutral answers as regards the overall situation for the business.

Intervention on TRIPS plus enforcement trends – INDIA We support the statement made by China who have drawn the broad canvas against which the TRIPS plus enforcement trends must be seen. They have also raised several fundamental concerns which require further deliberation in this Council. My delegation also wishes to draw Members’ attention to some systemic implications of the multitude of initiatives launched by a group of largely developed country Members to enforce TRIPS Agreement in a manner that is considerably more extensive than the level enshrined in TRIPS Agreement.
India Comes Out Swinging Against ACTA at WTO. The Government of India came out forcefully against ACTA this week in an intervention at the World Trade Organization.
The India position, which may well reflect the views of other ACTA-excluded countries, demonstrates that ACTA is emerging as a contentious political issue that extends well beyond civil society and business groups concerned with the agreement. European Commission : Trade : Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) Protection and enforcement of intellectual property are crucial for the EU's ability to stimulate innovation and to compete in the global economy.
Intellectual property rights (IPRs) (such as patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights or geographical indications) enable European inventors, creators and businesses to prevent unauthorized exploitation of their creations, and in return to get compensation for their investment. IPRs also offer guarantees to users (e.g., trademarks and geographical indications identify the origin of the goods concerned). Neelie Kroes verdedigt ACTA.
