Il y a encore peu de temps, la navigation simultanée sur plusieurs sites impliquait l'ouverture d'autant de fenêtres que de pages ouvertes. Cela pouvait devenir très lourd à manipuler, par exemple lorsque l'on souhaitait ouvrir plusieurs fenêtres issues d'une page de résultats d'un moteur de recherche.
