My name is Brenna Noonan. I am a saxophonist, composer, and educator specializing in "new" or "art" music. I am a native of Boston, MA, and began my studies at The Boston Conservatory and the Berklee School of Music. Halfway through my undergraduate career, I moved to France and and studied saxophone with Jean-Denis Michat at the Conservatoire National Rayonnement de Lyon. As a composer, I have received commissions from artists such as marimbist Matthew Sharrock, percussionist Colin Woodford, and saxophonist Pete Leung. The Project For several months, I have wanted to compose a chamber opera inspired by the life of novelist Philip K. Dick had four main women in his life: Kathy, Linda, Tessa, and Jamis.

The work is a chamber opera, with a projected running time of 45-60 minutes. The retro hues of the adopted instrumentation (electric piano, marimba, theremin, vibraphone) are original, seductive and perfectly coherent. Novik aligned a crew of young musicians who had studied under such luminaries as Fred Frith, Marc Ribot, John Zorn, or performed in the most exciting bands of the day – Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Trio Convulsant.
