Joey Here's an interview at Broken Pencil where I talk about horror and giving books away on the internet, and headless monstrosities. They ask about One Bloody Thing, and about We All Got it Coming. And at Open Book Toronto, I fill out the Proust Questionnaire Both of these point out that I'll be taking part in the very first Toronto Literary Salon on April 27th at the Spoke Club.

I am going to be honest, I have no idea what to expect from a 'Literary Salon' but it's free, so you should come and say hello! There will be discussions and things. The third chapter of We All Got it Coming is up now, and the link is below. We All Got it Coming, chapter 3. If you do like this book so far, please consider buying a copy of One Bloody Thing After Another, or (if teen lesbian horror stories are not to your taste) maybe buy a Softer World print, or t-shirt! Emily Joey and I are going to ROFLCon in Boston! A softer world: 512. A softer world: 517. Emily Two great comic things are happening right now! NUMBER ONE: John Campbell is making his perversely entertaining hourly comics again!

Fun Fact: although I have met John Campbell in real life several times, because of his annual hourlies, I still always imagine him as his hairless stick-figure avatar. NUMBER TWO: KC Green's Horribleville is now available in book form, from the great New Reliable Press! Go ahead, preorder it. joey It's weird coming home for the holidays. A softer world: 531. Emily I went to the Glasgow School of Art today, and bought the world's cutest thing. It's called a 'tinyment' (aaaaah!) And you can look at mine here. They're made by a company called Finch & Fouracre, who make loads of other great models and things. Joey I am boxing up all my books and DVDs into two piles, sell and keep. A softer world: 547. A softer world: 445. Emily It is summer now, I think we can all agree. It's time for waterpark visits and novel-reading on the grass. I just finished reading Moby-Dick for the first time, what a strange book. In spite of being fairly well-informed about the book's odd novel/allegory/informational tract about whales structure I was still consistently surprised by it. I got the itch to read Moby-Dick after we watched Star Trek II, so now clearly the only way to bring it full-circle is to find the Patrick Stewart-as-Ahab TV movie...

The shot above is the Bean in Chicago. Joey Today I am gonna get a super cheap video camera because I want to start making little short movies with my friends. A softer world: 464. Joey I like to look at sexy pictures on the internet. Self portraits especially, because there's a confidence in the best of them that I find really inspiring. Like this one of Katie West. Or this, of Malloreigh. I think I understand images that capture the subject, that catch an expression or a bit of body language that expresses something about that subject. But I don't know if I understand the body language itself. When I set up a camera to try to take pictures of myself (not necessarily sexy pictures, though of course that's what got me started on this, so let's be honest and talk about those) I don't know what to do. But I want to. So, here's a request. Emily I just wanted to remind you that you've got until Monday the 27th to order the A Softer World book from Loose Teeth Press and get some free mini zombie prints for your trouble.

My favourite newly-discovered website is Infrastructurist (a word I find unconscionably difficult to type). A softer world: 485. A softer world: 488. A softer world: 489. A softer world: 493. Joey The We Are Become Pals book is here! You can buy it right now, for $16 in hardcover! It is a book that feels nice to read, and feels nice to hold in your hand. In hardcover it makes the perfect gift for your own best friend. It’s a hard book to describe, but this is the blurb we came up with: We are Become Pals is the story of Jane and Helen, and of their friendship. The hardcover has all the original chapters (which you can still read online for free right here), and all new material that follows their friendship further into their lives, as they get old and crotchety and awesome together. emily I've been in too many time zones this week.

ANYWAY Joey and I will be tabling at Canzine on Sunday, if you're near Toronto you should come by. A softer world: 494. Joey I am home in Toronto for a while, and rereading the Ripley books by Patricia Highsmith. I remembered liking them, obviously (as she is my favourite author) but I forgot how MUCH I liked them! So good! Emily I've been in too many time zones this week. ANYWAY Joey and I will be tabling at Canzine on Sunday, if you're near Toronto you should come by.

I played Settlers of Catan on New Year's Eve (I think it is pretty clear that I know how to have a good time, right?) And I won, for the first time! We have a CLEAVER as a Catan prize, if you win a game your name is engraved on it and you get to keep it until the next game.

So like, if you need anything cleaved, give me a call I guess? Joey Happy new year!
