this is onformative a studio for generative design.

When working on traditional commissions, we give advice and support to our agency customers from the conception to the implementation of their projects. Depending on the task’s requirements, we use generative and/or classical design methods efficiently and sensibly. Provoked by our curiosity, we are always in search of new forms of expression. We gain abundant experience from our experimental work, enabling us to apply new and unconventional methods of design in our projects. We are happy to be nominated for the »German Design Award 2012« by the German Design Council for the »Generative Gestaltung«-Book The Design award consists of two … During the last few month we have been working on one of our latest projects, a real-life augmented reality performance for Marco Tempest, a virtual magican who is well known for his multimedia magic and use … http://www.onformative.com/
Ok, I did some generative art-like things before . But it was never my goal, they where always somehow the side effect of experimenting with code. But recently I did a nice project for Little Miss Robot . http://www.neuroproductions.be/generative-art/a-take-on-generative-art/

Generator.x: Software and generative strategies in art and design

The Generator.x 3.0: From Code to Atoms workshop at iMAL, Brussels culminated last Friday in an exhibition of works created during the week. As expected there is a wide range of works and expressions, from Makerbot’ted data sculptures ( Frederik Vanhoutte , Andrej Boleslavsky , Katerina Konstantopoulos + Erato Choli ) to distorted 3D scanned objects ( Matthew Plummer-Fernandez ) and parametric paper folding ( Julien Deswaef ). For a complete overview of the workshop and its results, take a look at the Flickr tag “GX30″ which currently covers over 1000 uploads. Another important resource is iMAL’s wiki site Wikimal , which includes source code and tutorials published in connection with the workshop. Some participants have also published their own source code, such as Corneel Cannaert’s release of his Processing code to directly output G-code for Makerbot control. http://www.generatorx.no/

Hemesh and HemeshGui [Processing] - library by Frederik Vanhoutte (@wblut) /post by Amnon Owed | CreativeApplications.Net

Hemesh is an exciting Processing library by Frederik Vanhoutte (W:Blut) that can be used to create elaborate 3D shapes quickly. It is an implementation of the half-edge datastructure , hence the name Hemesh. What makes this datastructure interesting is it’s inherent ability to store connectivity information. So it’s much more than just a list of vertices and faces. Rather it’s about the efficient description of connections between them. http://www.creativeapplications.net/processing/hemesh-and-hemeshgui-processing/

Kinect - One Week Later [Processing, oF, Cinder, MaxMSP] - Now full speed ahead.. | CreativeApplications.Net

Last week we wrote about the wonderful work that happened over the weekend after the release of XBox Kinect opensource drivers. Today we look at what happened since then and how the Microsoft gadget is being utilised in the creative code community. In case you missed our post from last week, you can see it here: Kinect – OpenSource [News] Chris from ProjectAllusion.com got to play with the Kinect and one late night he made this little demo in Processing using the hacked Kinect drivers. The processing app is sending out OSC with depth information based on the level of detail and the defined plane.

Kinect - OpenSource [News] - amazing work created within a few days.. #of | CreativeApplications.Net

There have been a number of exciting developments in the last few days related to XBox Kinect . For those that may not be aware of what it is, it’s a brand new interface to their Microsoft XBox games console. Kinect brings games without using a controller. By using projected infra-red light, the device is able to map the environment and via xbox built in software recognise gestures of any kind (see video below).

Music video for Catalina, a track off the Chocolat EP by Moullinex, released in January on Gomma Records created using Kinect + Processing + Cinema 4D + After Effects. We started with the Kinect interface library developed for Processing and made available by Daniel Shiffman . Some modifications were introduced, to get our 3D data into Cinema 4D.
The purpose of NODE is to facilitate the exchange between art, design and engineering in interactive and generative media. The 'NODE - Forum for Digital Arts' emerged in 2008 from an initiative of associates of MESO who at the same time had been developers and users of the graphical programming language vvvv. At first, NODE was meant to support the community of people using vvvv to create artistic and creative software projects, but it quickly changed into an international forum for knowledge exchange between designers, artists and engineers of various fields believing in the powers of programming and digital technologies. NODE08 turned out to be a one week-long rush of discussions, theoretical and practical lectures and workshops, artist presentations and events. NODE10 should go way beyond NODE08.

NODE10 - Forum for Digital Arts - Welcome

I recently found an great article about bezier curves by Mike Kamermans. What made it extra amazing was that all the images were open-sourced, interactive files created with Processing JS . You’re able to follow the mathematics of beziers as well understand how they were executed by reading the code.
