How to Identify the Best Design Problems

http://52weeksofux.com/post/6069568681/how-to-identify-the-best-design-problems One of the core principles of UX is to solve existing problems , or problems that people are already struggling with. While this might not be as glamorous as inventing a brand new thing it is more practical: it makes identifying problems easier and people are much more receptive to your design. If you’re solving a known problem you don’t have to convince anybody that your design is valuable…they already know exactly why they want to use it. Unfortunately, there are far more problems than there are designers to solve them. So how do you know you’re solving a problem that’s worth solving?

The Best Nutrition Label Ideas - Food

We're happy to announce the winners of our project to design a better nutrition label . It's about time. For years, the federal Nutrition Facts label—that mandated, black-and-white guide to the calories, fats, and sugars on the backs of all packaged foods—has gotten short shrift from shoppers.

Everyday moments

As part of our continuing efforts to evolve the Nokia brand identity, we recently travelled to 5 cities across the globe to create photography in our new style. From blazing sunshine to heavy hail and thunderstorms, we over came the elements to bring you photography from Sydney, Shanghai, Beirut, Johannesburg and Maputo. Unpredictability is part of the beauty and appeal of documentary photography, along with no special effects, no styling and no airbrushing. The authentic and real approach makes us all feel something much deeper than the typical glossy, staged worlds we’re used to seeing in advertising. http://brandbook.nokia.com/blog/view/item64682/
http://www.citrinitas.com/history_of_viscom/index.html This website, which contains the material of the course VA312, taught at Sabanci University , Istanbul, Turkey; attempts to walk you through the long and diverse history of a particular aspect of human endeavour: The translation of ideas, stories and concepts that are largely textual and/or word based into a visual format, i.e. visual communication. Wikipedia defines visual communication as: The primary tool by which man has visualised ideas is through the usage of writing and, by extension, type: Writing/type is the visual manifestation of the spoken word.

The History of Visual Communication

Using custom software he creates stunning visuals that reveal the hidden structures embedded in both electronic music and culturally weighty artifacts like baroque Roman churches, Gothic French cathedrals, or Flemish paintings.

Tron Legacy (2010)

Year: 2010 Tron Legacy permalink I spent a half year writing software art to generate special effects for Tron Legacy, working at Digital Domain with Bradley "GMUNK" Munkowitz, Jake Sargeant, and David "dlew" Lewandowski. This page has taken a long time to be published because I've had to await clearance. A lot of my team's work was done using Adobe software and Cinema 4D. http://jtnimoy.net/workviewer.php?q=178
