The Egyptian Revolution of 2011, locally called January 25 Revolution (Arabic: ثورة 25 يناير‎ thawret 25 yanāyir, Revolution of 25 of January) and sometimes referred to as the Lotus Revolution,[21] was a diverse movement of demonstrations, marches, plaza occupations, riots, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and labor strikes which took place following a popular uprising that began on 25 January 2011.

2011 Egyptian revolution

Millions of protesters from a variety of socio-economic and religious backgrounds demanded the overthrow of the regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. There were also important Islamic, liberal, anti-capitalist, nationalist, and feminist currents of the revolution. During the uprising the capital city of Cairo was described as "a war zone"[28] and the port city of Suez saw frequent violent clashes. The protesters defied the government-imposed curfew and the police and military did not enforce it.

Question of Egypt

Position Papers, Resolutions, & Speeches. You see it everywhere at MUN conferences.

Position Papers, Resolutions, & Speeches

You’ve made your own — or, more likely, your advisor told you to make one. And you probably didn’t want to. It’s confusing to create and cumbersome to carry. You might even be embarrassed to bring one to committee — maybe you poke fun at others for bringing theirs. What am I referring to? When I started doing Model UN, research was a chore. But I soon realized this was putting me at a disadvantage. I knew that if I was confident in my research, that confidence would come through in speeches and debates. I needed to put together a research binder. And many conferences and committees later, I’ve come to appreciate the value of a good, well-organized binder. It actually speeds up research. I organized my binders by starting from the “big picture” — conference, committee, and country — then zooming in on the details — topics, policies, and solutions.

Using this framework, there are 15 things every delegate should include in their binders: Conference. Charter of the United Nations: Chapter I: Purposes and Principles. Preambulatory and Operative Clauses. Learn how UNA-USA connects Americans with the United Nations through local Chapters, grassroots advocacy, and education.
