Basically, a plenoptic lens is composed of a litany of tiny "sub-lenses," which allow those precious photons you're capturing to be recorded from multiple perspectives.
The result is that you get a bunch more data in your image and an "infinite" depth of field, meaning you can toggle at what distance you want your image to be focused after the act of taking it. These plenoptic lenses are inserted between your shooter's usual lens and its sensor, though commercialization is sadly said to still be a fair distance away.

Per quest’ultimo ho creato un preset, scaricabile in questo post. Conversione in Bianco e Nero Lightroom permette di controllare accuratamente l’influenza di ogni colore nella conversione al bianco e nero, ma in questo caso mi è bastato personalizzare il preset “Creative Black & White High contrast”. I numeri della personalizzazione in questo scatto (in origine sottoesposto) sono: Exposure: +2.5, Blacks: 10, Tone Curve: lineare, Saturazione: 0, Lens Vignetting: -100, Detail 50 (per far sentire la grana).

Una delle dimostrazioni più interessanti che abbiamo avuto modo di osservare nel corso del GTC di San Josè, è stato il progetto di Adobe denominato Plenotical Rendering. Il concetto, di per sè, non è innovativo ed è già stato mostrato al pubblico in diverse occasioni. La dimostrazione di cui andremo a parlare si basa sull'utilizzo di una lente conosciuta con il nome di plenoptic lens: si tratta di una lente fotografica formata però da più lenti, come mostra l'immagine sopra proposta. Scattando una foto, ovviamente con un obbiettivo adatto, l'utente con una solo foto avrà a disposizione uno scatto caratterizzato non solo da diverse angolazioni, ma anche diversi punti di messa a fuoco. Stiamo ovviamente parlando di una soluzione ancora in stadio prototipale, mancano quindi al momento dettagli precisi circa il funzionamento di tale tecnologia.
La possibilità di avere una quantità simile di dati con un solo scatto consente importanti possibilità di lavoro sull'immagine stessa.
