One Community
One Community is a low-impact living model purposed to demonstrate large-scale sustainability and fulfilled living as the open source blueprints for a sustainable civilization. Our mission is to exemplify living that addresses the pressing problems of today and prepares the world for the challenges of the next century through a duplicable model of large-scale sustainability for the complete human experience founded on a simple celebration of what we are capable of: zero-waste living and completely sustainable lifestyle practices, inspired collaboration and global contribution, and unconditional love for each other.
Creating Utopia: Utopian Idea. It is interesting to observe the stigma against mentioning utopia, or the creation of any utopian project, when war, destruction, and the newest multi-billion dollar casino are accepted as part of our current reality.
The fact is, however, that amazing things are being created and for any utopian vision to happen, all it needs is to be something that is accessible to everyone and accomplishable with resources available to average people. A viable society or civilization such as this should address human needs from a perspective of fulfilled living as well as sustainable food, energy, and construction practices to combine internal/emotional needs with external/survival needs and provide sustainability for the complete human experience structured for The Highest Good of All.

We believe if we make it easy enough, affordable enough, and attractive to enough people, then we can create exponential growth and develop mainstream embracing of these concepts and literally transform life on this planet for everyone. Here is our progress update for the week of April 29th through May 5th, 2013. Spirituality for The Highest Good of All. The spiritual philosophy of One Community is living for The Highest Good of All and Oneness; seeing each of us as expressions of each other and all aspects of spirituality be that Jesus, Buddha, Kali, Krishna, Isis, Mandela, Sofia, Mohammed, Yahweh, Sai Baba, La Virgen Maria, Waka Tankan, Ramana, God, no God, or Something else.
We love life and know That which breathes everything, breathes us as well. We do not believe any power that is omnipotent or omnipresent has a use for judgment or punishment and we do our best to live a life of acceptance, love, and understanding for all; and we feel that God/The Universe/The All, or whatever label we wish to call It, does the same. We try and see the Divinity in all things and to honor this Divinity in Us by living an honorable life of gratitude, contribution, cooperation, and service to each other, our planet, and the rest of our species.

This last week for One Community has been heavily focused on food infrastructure progress. Doug Stenhouse (Architect and Water Color Artist) spent the whole week adapting, updating, and finalizing the site layout for all the aquapini, zen aquapini, and walipini structures. These final designs went through three major iterations and redesigns: This first iteration was an indicator that we had too many retaining walls and needed to improve our ability to move around the site and structures for maintenance and ease of use. Charles is an Architectural BIM Designer, College Professor, Urban Agriculture Designer, and the owner of OM Greengroup. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture, and a Master’s Degree in Education-Curriculum & Instruction. He is also a member of The Detroit City Council Green Task Force working to revitalize the Metropolitan Detroit area by providing sustainable ideas to implement new infrastructure capabilities evolving around reclaimed water policy issues, urban agriculture policy issues, and Green Building and Infrastructure policy.
