Wait, I think I need one more–! As soon as this recipe from Picky Palate hit my inbox, my heart started pounding. As I scrolled through and the idea settled in, I knew I was a goner. Photo by photo, I watched as Jenny started with a fabulous sugar cookie dough, spread butter over it (!) , sprinkled brown sugar & cinnamon over that (!) Seriously, I’m having trouble keeping my cool here. You could use any sugar cookie dough to make these cookies, including store-bought, but I do recommend that you try Jenny’s recipe. You see, about 2 weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet one of my favorite bands. A band whose music makes me smile, makes me dance and brings back memories. I love summer. Summer means warm weather and sunshine. And best of all, summer means lots and lots of ice cream. While ice cream is an all year round treat for me, in the summer I can eat a ton of it without people questioning me. Last week I took out my Cuisinart Ice-Cream Maker to make a fresh batch of ice cream.

I love the bright green color of this ice cream. Sweet, rich, and creamy from the avocados, I really loved this ice cream. CREAMY CORN, BASIL AND BACON PASTA. Every time I make a creamy pasta, everybody rushes to the table and happily digs in.

I was supposed to make this pasta with corn, bacon and basil a few weeks ago, but I didn't have any parmesan in the fridge. Then I let the bacon go bad (what a waste!). So this pasta was back on the menu this week after we were given some bacon, and miraculously, I had all the ingredients on hand. It's a very simple, but very rich dish, one of my husband's favorite.

Corn, Bacon & Basil Spaghetti Adapted from Bitchin Camero 1 lb. spaghetti 4 slices bacon, cut into strips 2 cup corn, kernels removed 3/4 cup whipping cream 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 1/4 cup chopped basil leaves black pepper and parmesan cheese to serve Set a large pot of water to boil and cook your pasta until almost al dente. It’s also a pretty good indication for how things are going to be around here these next two weeks. Meaning: short ingredient lists with common items. It’s something of a detox for somebody like me who leans towards super spiced cuisines like Sri Lankan and Moroccan. Potatoes and peas have always been a favorite combo of mine although I usually have them as a heavy side (mashed potatoes and peas) to an even heavier meat main course (meatloaf). Apparently Basque people often garnish their dishes with wedges of hard-boiled eggs. Cold Sesame Noodle Salad. I adore cold salads when it is too hot to cook.

This is one of our favorites because it is so easy to make. The only hot part is boiling the noodles. Then it is stored in the fridge and served cold. I often make this in the early morning when it is cool outside and we eat it for the rest of the day as it warms up and nobody wants to turn on the stove. It has a lot of great flavor without being overly greasy or heavy like take-out Chinese food. Cold Sesame Noodle Salad adapted from Rachael Ray 1 tablespoons smooth peanut butter 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 pinch cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon sesame seeds ½ box spaghetti, or capellini, cooked and drained In a small bowl whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, pepper, vegetable oil and sesame oil.
