HHS nominee got $1.2M at ‘zero’ salary job at Wal-Mart Washington Times During her brief but lucrative stint as president of Wal-Mart’s charitable foundation in 2012, Sylvia Matthews Burwell received at least $750,000 in bonuses from an organization that doles out hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions but keeps a tight lid on its own compensation practices, records show. Ms. Burwell spent a little more than a year running Wal-Mart’s foundation before President Obama tapped her to be his budget chief last year — and then last week asked her to take over as health and human services secretary. Her White House biography touts her key private-sector experience as president of the massive foundation, but Internal Revenue Service records show that the job is unpaid and the more than $1.2 million in salary, deferred compensation and bonuses paid to Ms. Continue reading President Obama’s Brother BUSTED In Major Cult SCANDAL Shoebat continue reading Watchdog continue reading wired Newsmax.

‘The History Channel’ Yanks Kennedy Miniseries Produced by Conservative | The Blaze. PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — The History Channel will not air a controversial miniseries it produced about the Kennedy family, saying the multimillion project that had become the network’s most expensive on record did not fit the “History brand.” The eight-part series had already been completed, and starred Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes as President John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jackie. But during its production, critics like former Kennedy administration aide Theodore Sorenson attacked the scripts as inaccurate. The role of producer Joel Surnow, a political conservative, also drew suspicion from fans of the Kennedy family. “We have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand,” the network said in a statement late Friday. The decision was first reported Friday by the Hollywood Reporter. History, in its statement, said the decision was made after viewing the series in its totality.

Spokesman Michael Feeney said there would be no further comment. Conurls | Conservative Blog Aggregator. The Empty Entrapment Argument. Those men often travel to an agreed-upon rendezvous point before they are arrested. To prevent murder-for-hire schemes, agents may pose as hit men. Their targets sometimes pose for pictures in which they appear dead as "proof" the hit was carried out. Drug deals are set up by undercover agents practically on a daily basis. The use of undercover agents and informants is a staple in everyday law enforcement. Weasel Zippers. Write Your Elected Officials! | Empower Texans / Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. GuideDesc. Progressives, who have always claimed to be the authoritative source of progressive attitudes on race, have actually become one of the centers of racist thinking in America over the last quarter century, a period of time in which postwar liberalism/progressivism itself was being reconfigured by the radical Sixties worldview. Progressive racism began in the last years of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life, when organizations such as the Black Panther Party and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) radicalized the issue of color in America by focusing on legitimate “black rage” and the “institutional racism” they claimed was embedded in the “DNA” of American society. King was an obstacle in their path; they rejected the gains he had achieved as illusory. This was no mere intellectual disagreement about a strategy for improving race relations in America; it had a bitter personal component.

Crush the Obamedia narrative: Look who’s “gripped by insane rage” The Obamedia is attempting to set yet another false narrative: The narrative of the McCain “mob.” McCain-Palin rallies are out of control, they wheedle. World Trade Center, around September 21, 2001. These photos were taken at Ground Zero, the World Trade Center site in New York, in September of 2001. They were taken by someone named "Ed" who was allowed into the area by a member of the emergency response crew, at a time when all civilians -- including most journalists -- were forbidden to enter the area.

As a result, these photos are among the few close-ups ever taken of the World Trade Center site so soon after the 9/11 attacks. The person who submitted these pictures to zombietime had originally been under the impression that they were taken on September 13, 2001, but recent examination of other Ground Zero photos suggest that in fact the photos on this page were taken later in September, perhaps ten days after 9/11. This satellite photo, for example, was taken on September 15, 2001 and shows that the West Side Highway, which runs alongside the west edge of Ground Zero, had still not been fully cleared of debris at the time the photo was taken. OIC. Young Conservatives of California. Americans Are Fleeing Obama’s Crony Capitalist Economy | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac bailout cost is likely to rise to $154 billion, agency projects. The bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is likely to cost taxpayers an additional $19 billion and may cost as much as $124 billion more if the economy starts shrinking again, according to a government projection released Thursday. The rescue of the mortgage giants, which has helped keep the housing market alive amid economic crisis and recession, already has a price tag of $135 billion.

The money went to cover losses on defaulted home loans. The ballooning price of the Fannie and Freddie bailout comes as the Obama administration celebrates news of lower costs on other financial rescues. Administration officials are also preparing to release a plan for reforming the two companies in coming months. In its projection Thursday, the Federal Housing Finance Agency sought to indicate how much more money the companies may need in the next three years under different economic scenarios. A more optimistic projection has the housing market springing back to life sooner. Repayment unlikely. Replacing Summers with a Wall Street millionaire | Analysis & Opinion | U.S. Agrees to Rescue Struggling Citigroup. JPMorgan's $12 Billion Bailout.

Over the weekend, the Federal Reserve bailed out JPMorgan Chase. No, that is not a typo. On Monday, JPMorgan’s stock closed up 10 percent in a down market, increasing the bank’s market capitalization by more than $12 billion. Even assuming that JPMorgan ultimately has to pay more for Bear than its $2-per-share-offer — a big assumption — the market’s initial view is that this takeover of an imploding Wall Street firm was a wealth transfer to JPMorgan’s shareholders of this amount. Where did this transfer come from?

The Federal Reserve has guaranteed Bear’s liabilities to the tune of $30 billion. This is a Goodbody deal — reminiscent of when Merrill Lynch was picked as the biggest banker on Wall Street to pay $15 million to takeover Goodbody & Company to prevent a possible market collapse back in 1970. I’m not questioning whether market integrity requires this: it appears that it may indeed. It is with this sense of frustration that I read the JPMorgan/Bear Stearns merger agreement. Economic Recovery: Free Markets and Entrepreneurs to Create Jobs. Abstract: The Obama Administration’s $862 billion stimulus bill was an expensive failure that increased the federal deficit, contributed to America’s deteriorating fiscal health, and failed to reduce unemployment.

Instead of repeating this mistake, Congress should alleviate business fears and economic uncertainty by maintaining the current tax policy (extending the 2001 and 2003 tax rates) and freezing costly new regulations. Then, Congress should rescind unspent stimulus funds, suspend federal regulations that unnecessarily suppress economic activity, conclude pending free trade agreements, and adopt other pro–free market steps. By enacting these reforms, Congress can unleash substantial economic growth, reduce unemployment, and reduce the deficit without spending a dollar of taxpayer money.

At the start of his Administration, President Barack Obama pushed through a massive $862 billion stimulus bill. The stimulus increased government spending and has increased the federal deficit. WOODALL INTRODUCES FAIRTAX BILL ON DAY ONE WITH RECORD NUMBER OF ORIGINAL CO-SPONSORS Press Release | Jan. 5, 2011 | U. S. Rep Rob Woodall Posted on Thu Jan 6 12:52:22 2011 by phil_will1 Washington, DC—On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Congressman Rob Woodall (GA-07) introduced H.R. 25, the FairTax.

“I committed to the Seventh District of Georgia that my efforts in Congress would focus on reclaiming freedom for the American people. Woodall, who was sworn-in to Congress earlier in the day, played an integral role in crafting the original text of the FairTax as former Congressman John Linder's Chief of Staff when the bill was originally introduced in 1999. "Our current tax system is a bloated, convoluted mess that gives government power over Americans' pockets. Although the FairTax was introduced with 47 original co-sponsors, Woodall anticipates adding many more Members of Congress to the bill.

The list of original co-sponsors is as follows: 1) Tom Price (GA) 7) Steve King (IA) HJTA to L.A.U.S.D. And L.A. Board of Education: "Barbara Boxer asked LAUSD to violate the law!" - FlashReport - Presented by Jon Fleischman. Today the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association notified the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Board of Education today that,in abject ignorance of California state law, the political campaign of Senator Barbara Boxer has openly solicited teachers employed by LAUSD to urge their students to volunteer for her campaign. HJTA's letter to the school district urges LAUSD to immediately inform all its personnel, credentialed or otherwise, that it would be a clear violation of law for teachers to recruit their students on school property during school hours to volunteer for a specific political campaign.

Pursuant to both case law and a specific provision of the California Education Code, what Boxer wants would leave LAUSD subject to both civil and potentially criminal sanctions. Common sense should also tell her that seeking public resources and classroom time from teachers to do her political bidding is just wrong. Barbara Boxer should know better. Right Turn - EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Lamar Smith issues first DOJ oversight letter. Posted at 1:46 PM ET, 01/ 6/2011 By Jennifer Rubin Right Turn has obtained the first oversight letter from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) issued to the Justice Department.

While he was in the minority, Smith labored, largely unsuccessfully, on the committee to convince the Democratic chairman to investigate a range of issues, including detainee policy and New Black Panther Party case. He now has the authority to schedule hearings, call witnesses and subpoena documents. In a five-page letter, Smith notes that there has been "little oversight" as to how the civil rights division has used its budget increases ($22 million in FYI 2010 and $17 million requested in FYI 2011) and why the need for some 164 new positions. He then gets to the heart of the matter. Smith then details allegations by former Justice Department attorney J. The letter is noteworthy on a number of levels. Arizona Border Trash. Year-End Sales Report: General Motors. On the surface, GM had a fairly passable 2010, as the newly-public automaker posted a 21.3% volume increase for its four core brands. In contrast to Toyota’s humbly grateful tone, GM’s VP of US Sales Don Johnson sounded a distinctly triumphal note, arguing Our sales this year reflect the impact of GM’s new business model. The consistency of results that we achieved demonstrates the focus on our brands, dealers and customers, and how we compete aggressively for every sale, every day. And on a superficial level, the argument certainly seems to ring true, as Buick (+51.9%), Cadillac (+34.7%), and GMC (+31.7%) were the three most-improved brands in the business last year in terms of volume. Wrong. As long as the story stays on the three non-Chevy brands, the story stays happy.

GMC’s 28.9% growth brought GM’s truck brand back over 300k units last year, en route to a .4% improvement in retail market share and 4% of the retail market.
