MENINIST: MEN SUPPORTING THE WOMEN'S MOVEMENT

I hope more men will start to see the light. I worked at the UN in helping to draft the Convention for the eliminination of discrimination against women years ago. The experience taught me a great deal about the problems women face all over the world. I now have two daughters (as well as two sons) and am retired. I did not know of this organization before. I spent a good time being a "passive" sexist. Dear Meninist community, I am so glad to find like minds out there countering the myths and slander to all men that come from the mouths of pimps and pornographers. There may be no longer-lasting nor more deeply ingrained notion than sex oppression, beginning from and undergirding the very differentiation between the sexes the way it exists worldwide today. All my hopes, - James French Brooklyn, NY To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter in support of the meninist movement. Thanks once again, Steven Vande Vyvere, University Student Peace, A.

When a male enrolls in college and selects a major such as engineering, the reactions from family and friends alike range from “Congratulations,” “What area is most interesting to you?”

Women in Engineering: Thriving in a Man’s World

To “That’s impressive, good luck.” When a female chooses engineering, the reactions she hears range from “Do you think you can handle it?” And “Why that?” To “Are you good enough at math?” When I first announced that I was going to study engineering in college, the reactions were no different. There is no easy way to explain why more women are not encouraged to follow these career paths. Even though engineering can be an uninviting culture, I decided that it was what I wanted to do and I was not going to let discomfort stand in my way. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields offer endless opportunities. After a couple of years working for a small electrical engineering consulting firm in Las Vegas, I was promoted to project manager. Resources: In the News:
