About a year ago, I sat down to brunch across from one of the most badass women I’ve ever met. We’ll call her Sandra. Sandra’s not badass in the way many people would define the word. She made the statement prior to being sentenced to sixteen months in jail on 'Mickey Mouse' charges that relate to a G20 protest in Toronto last June. Canadian anarchist Mandy Hiscocks, was yesterday sentenced to sixteen months imprisonment. She was convicted of ‘counselling to commit mischief’, and ‘counselling to obstruct a police officer’. Several other activists have been through, or currently going through the court system on similar charges. The charges relate to a G20 protest in Toronto June 26th last year.
