Amnesty International is calling on the US to investigate the use of drones by US forces for targeted killings of individuals in Yemen. “There must be an immediate investigation into the dozens of deaths of local residents in the Abyan air strike, including into the extent of US involvement,” Luther said. “Those responsible for unlawful killings must be brought to justice.”

"[The Chinese] observed French companies have oil interests in Sudan as well as Chad," the Americans stated. France ultimately supported Bashir's indictment, but the cables suggest this was deliberately calculated to protect their oil interests.

Coup d’Etat au Niger
Le chef de l’Etat, qui devait se retirer du pouvoir au terme de son mandat en décembre dernier, avait fait modifier la Constitution afin de pouvoir se représenter. Devant les réticences de la classe politique, il avait dû dissoudre l’Assemblée nationale et la Cour constitutionnelle, et faire avaliser son coup de force par un référendum boycotté par les partis d’opposition. Son comportement avait été condamné par les organisations panafricaines (Union africaine, Communauté économique des Etats d’Afrique de l’Ouest) et la « communauté internationale ».
Aveuglés par leur désir de démocratiser l’Afrique, les Européens ne se rendent pas compte qu’ils favorisent le clientélisme au détriment du bien-être des populations, regrette l’écrivain Alphonse Muambi. Pour lui, c’est aux tribus de prendre le destin du continent en main.
