Peter Emmrich, who is a second year PhD plant science student at the John Innes Centre, at the Norwich Research Park, established the Doctors for Madagascar UK charity to help improve hospital facilities in the south of Madagascar. The 24-year-old, who spent three weeks in the Fotadrevo region of Madagascar in September, is organising charity concerts in Norwich and London to help raise funds and awareness for the charity. Mr Emmrich got involved in the charity quest after his brother, Julius, who is a doctor in Germany, helped set up Doctors for Madagascar two years ago.
