Arthur Brooks: Republicans and Their Faulty Moral Arithmetic. I still hope the bomber is a white American. I’m not the kind of person who hopes to ever find conservative Fox News host Bill O’Reilly agreeing with me. But with my Salon piece on the Boston bomber now on the front page of Drudge, I think it is worth pointing out that last night O’Reilly effectively agreed with my piece by confirming the very simple self-evident truth that the Boston bomber’s demographic profile will, indeed, dictate how America responds to the atrocity. O’Reilly starts out by stating something every American almost certainly agrees with: We should all be first and foremost hoping that the perpetrator — whoever he or she is — is apprehended as quickly as possible. Then he moves into an analysis of the future reaction. As O’Reilly put it, “If this is an international terror attack, the repercussions will be severe,” but, he added, “if it’s home-grown” that will just “be another stain on American history.”

Rep. Cohen: Lauper 'hot' tweet a ruse - The Hill's In The Know. Rep. Steve Cohen claims he wrote, and subsequently deleted, a post on Twitter calling singer Cyndi Lauper “hot” to teach the press a lesson and conjure up publicity for his homestate. In a Friday news conference the Tennessee Democrat said, “I tweeted exactly what I wanted to tweet and I deleted exactly what I wanted to delete. " Cohen sparked a flurry of media attention on Thursday after tweeting, “@cyndilauper great night, couldn’t believe how hot u were. see you again next Tuesday. Try a little tenderness.” The message came two days after Cohen attended a "Memphis Soul" concert at the White House featuring Lauper and other performers, including Justin Timberlake and the music duo Alabama Shakes. Cohen’s "hot" tweet to the singer on Thursday was deleted after 21 minutes. An earlier post, in which Cohen wrote, “Cyndi,Wow what a night! Lauper, 59, performed Otis Redding’s classic, “Try a Little Tenderness” at the White House event.

Cohen denied his Lauper trick was a distraction. "It was hot. Our Eyes Are Upon Texas Politics. Ron Radosh » Mother Jones Releases a Secret McConnell Tape — and Reveals Its Own Lack of Morality and Its Hypocrisy. The American Left is at it again. This time, Mother Jones Washington, D.C., correspondent David Corn reported that last February 2, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell held a private meeting with his aides to discuss in particular how to develop attacks against possible Democratic contenders for his Senate seat, especially the actress Ashley Judd. How did the magazine know this? Corn reveals that they received a tape of the meeting from an anonymous source.

The campaign aide who began the meeting started this way: I refer to [Judd] as sort of the oppo research situation where there’s a haystack of needles, just because truly, there’s such a wealth of material. They had many reasons to oppose Judd. As a self-proclaimed “radical,” Judd is pro-choice, for gay marriage, and, as the aide said, “anti-coal.” She’s clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced. This is hardly a surprise, since, as the aide notes, the information comes from Judd’s own autobiography. Can We Get Hillary Without the Foolery? Pablo Martinez Monsivais/Associated Press It’s such a silly question.

Of course Hillary is running. I’ve never met a man who was told he could be president who didn’t want to be president. So naturally, a woman who’s told she can be the first commandress in chief wants to be. “Running for president is like sex,” James Carville told me. “No one ever did it once and forgot about it.” Joe Biden wants the job. Also, Joe genuinely likes Hillary. As long as there are no more health scares — the thick glasses are gone — Hillary’s age won’t stop her. She was supposed to go off to a spa, rest and get back in shape after her grueling laps around the world. “I can’t see her taking it easy and sitting on the couch eating a bowl of popcorn,” said Randall Johnston, a 25-year-old New York University Law School student who helped pass out “Ready for Hillary” signs on Friday outside Lincoln Center, while her icon was inside enthralling the crowd at Tina Brown’s “Women in the World” conference. Obama budget to take aim at wealthy IRAs. President Obama’s budget, to be released next week, will limit how much wealthy individuals – like Mitt Romney – can keep in IRAs and other retirement accounts. The proposal would save around $9 billion over a decade, a senior administration official said, while also bringing more fairness to the tax code. The senior administration official said that wealthy taxpayers can currently “accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.” Under the plan, a taxpayer’s tax-preferred retirement account, like an IRA, could not finance more than $205,000 per year of retirement – or right around $3 million this year.

Romney, Obama’s 2012 opponent, had an IRA several to many times that amount, leading to questions about how the former Massachusetts governor was able to squirrel away so much money in that sort of retirement account. Protesters Greet President in San Francisco. Hundreds of protesters touting various causes gathered Wednesday evening a block away from a mansion in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood where President Barack Obama is set to attend a Democratic fundraiser later tonight.

The crowd filled the intersection of Pacific and Baker streets, a block away from the home of philanthropists Ann and Gordon Getty, who are hosting Obama in a fundraising dinner for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The largest group of protesters were shouting in opposition to Keystone XL, a proposed pipeline across the Midwest that would transport oil from tar sands in Canada.

"The legacy of his presidency is at stake with this question of whether he's going to approve or reject the Keystone XL pipeline," said Becky Bond, political director of CREDO, one of the environmental groups organizing the protest. The group also brought people wearing fake orange prison jumpsuits in solidarity with Guantanamo Bay prisoners. Copyright Bay City News. One in four Americans think Obama may be the antichrist, survey says | World news.

About one in four Americans suspect that President Barack Obama might be the antichrist, more than a third believe that global warming is a hoax and more than half suspect that a secretive global elite is trying to set up a New World Order, according to a poll released on Tuesday. The survey, which was conducted by Public Policy Polling, asked a sample of American voters about a number of conspiracy theories, phrasing the questions in eye-catching language that will have the country's educators banging their heads on their desks. The study revealed that 13% of respondents thought Obama was "the antichrist", while another 13% were "not sure" – and so were at least appeared to be open to the possibility that he might be. Some 73% of people were able to say outright that they did not think Obama was "the antichrist". At least some of the insane theories suggested by the poll were dismissed by large majorities.

Google honors Cesar Chavez on Easter. On Easter Sunday, Google is honoring the birthday of the late labor organizer Cesar Chavez by placing a Chavez portrait within the middle “o” of the Google logo that appears on the homepage of the popular search engine. While Google frequently decorates its logo to celebrate various holidays and special events, it is unclear why the company chose specifically to honor Chavez’s birthday, instead of Easter Sunday. Chavez co-founded the organization now known as the United Farm Workers union (UFW). He became an iconic figure in the labor movement, with his stature only increasing since his death in 1993. President Barack Obama released a statement in 2011 proclaiming March 31 “Cesar Chavez Day,” declaring, “I call upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate service, community, and educational programs to honor Cesar Chavez’s enduring legacy.”

Liberals Letter to the Editor Goes Viral For Its Stupidity. A letter to the editor sent to the Carteret County News-Times spread like wildfire around the internet. After being reposted on the Fox News Facebook page it received over 4,000 comments according to the News-Times. The letter, seen below is written by a Liberal who like most of today’s Left Leaning Loons living in “La-La Land”(a place Liberals say Obama is recovering an economy sometimes mispronounced -”America” by these people, for some reason). As you will read in the letter below this pompous Leftie considers his reasoning and intellect to be superior to anything written in The Constitution and finds that his preferences should become laws governing lesser beings like us – Conservatives.

Beaufort, N.C.Jan. 17, 2013TO THE EDITOR:Republicans and “so-called” conservatives are at it again. They are claiming that the Constitution gives people the right to have guns without the permission of the government. If that were true, then how could New York and Chicago have laws against it? Jim Carrey: 'Assault Rifle' Owners Have 'Very Little in Their Body or Soul Worth Protecting' Actor Jim Carrey, who starred in "Dumb and Dumber. " (AP) (CNSNews.com) – Actor Jim Carrey said Saturday that anyone who has bought an “assault rifle” since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School retain little that is “worth protecting.”

“[Anyone] who would run out to buy an assault rifle after the Newtown massacre has very little left in their body or soul worth protecting,” said Carrey on Twitter, Feb. 2. Gun sales have soared since the massacre in Newtown, Conn., which left 26 dead, including 20 first graders, as politicians have proposed stricter gun control legislation.

Data released by the FBI showed a record number of background checks performed for gun purchases in December, increasing in 48 of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in 2012. President Barack Obama appointed a task force led by Vice President Joe Biden to recommend gun-control measures in the wake of the shooting, and administered 23 executive orders to address the issue. Sen. Michael Moore's Irrational Reasoning: White Gun Owners Racist, But Understandable They're Not Afraid Of White Neighbors. Call it Michael Moore's Jesse Jackson moment . . . Jackson once famously said that when he walked down the street and heard footsteps behind him, he was relieved to turn around and find a white person behind him.

This evening, on Ed Schultz's soon-to-be-extinct weeknight MSNBC show, a histrionic Michael Moore accused white gun owners of racism . . . then proceeded to say it was reasonable for them not to be afraid of their white neighbors . . . and admitted he felt more comfortable walking down the streets of Toronto than Detroit. View the video after the jump. Moore tried to explain things in terms of the bigger welfare states that exist in countries like Canada and France. But wasn't he also admitting that the concerns of gun owners, and others, are anything but irrational or racist? I'll be back with the transcript. Trouble in the nanny state. Text smaller Text bigger Like the proverbial monkey typing for infinity and getting Shakespeare, Mayor Bloomberg’s obsession with reforming New Yorkers’ health has finally produced a brilliant ad campaign. Posters are popping up in subway stations and bus stops giving statistics about teen pregnancy that show cute little kids saying things like, “Honestly, Mom … chances are he won’t stay with you.

What happens to me?” And “I’m twice as likely not to graduate high school because you had me as a teen.” (Based on a recent CBS report, the kid could add, “Then again, I’m in the New York City public school system, so even if I graduate I won’t be able to read.”) It’s one thing to stigmatize “Big Gulp” drinkers, but liberals are hopping mad at this attempt to stigmatize teen pregnancy, 90 percent of which is unwed. Planned Parenthood’s Haydee Morales complained that the ads are creating “stigma” and “negative public opinions about teen pregnancy.” So liberals don’t try to make that case. 2016 Hillary-Michelle 'Dream Ticket' floated. Hillary Clinton hasn't stepped into the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries yet and there's already buzz growing for the ultimate grrl power ticket: Clinton and first lady Michelle Obama.

"All due respect for President Obama and Vice President Biden, but that would truly be a dream team for America," said former Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney. "Both women are proven effective leaders who've raise children, so dealing with Congress would be a snap! " added Finney, also a former Democratic Party spokeswoman. "More than anything else, this reflects the growing awareness that it is time for the glass ceiling of the last old boys club to be firmly shattered," added Democratic strategist Chris Lehane.

It's not just talk. "I look forward to the day when a woman can run for the presidency without so much parody and fanfare," said former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile. Democratic strategists say that Clinton is a lock to get into the race. Al Gore talks about uncertain 'Future,' spider goats at SXSW. AUSTIN—Interactive attendees were turned away in hordes as Al Gore took the stage to talk at South by Southwest on Saturday. The topic of his session was the (actual) future and The Future, Gore’s latest book about what the former vice president calls the “six drivers of global change.” In a discussion with AllThingsD editor Walt Mossberg, Gore focused on these main drivers of change—economic globalization, emergence of the “stalker economy” in the US, environmental damage, and money in politics—among other things. “Our government has been hacked, and our constitution is the operating system,” Gore repeated throughout the panel.

According to Gore, with the focus of any elected role now on fundraising and pleasing political backers at the top 1-percent of the population, it’s extremely difficult for politicians to pass laws that benefit the majority of their constituents. The government has also led us into what Gore referred to as a “stalker economy.”
