Use any of the three different versions/templates of this activity as: • Diagnostic: pre-assess what concepts students know (and can identify) in writing • Practice: formatively assess if students can identify a concept once you have taught it, OR provide sentences that students must label. • Focus: Look at just one grammar concept at a time (instead of several) and collect several sentence examples of it • Activities: Use this as an individual or group scavenger hunt, sending students to look inside just one book (or many) to find examples of grammatical concepts! • Reference: Pass out my filled-in version and let students refer to it all year long if they need to see what a concept looks like!
