Thankfully, even if you don’t consider yourself a crafty person, you can still make lots of these things yourself for a fraction of the cost. One of the easiest (and cutest) things you can make yourself are tutus! Supplies: Tulle (either on spools, or by the yard) in your desired color7/8″ ribbon in your desired colorScissors (or rotary cutter and mat)Measuring tape Step 1: Measure the child’s waist, as well as from the waist down to the point where you’d like your tutu to fall.

I’ve been on a wonky posting schedule lately trying to juggle a sick family, my day job, and on and on, but I’m back today with a fun, easy DIY winter-themed craft for kids as part of the Winter Wonderland Blog Hop presented by the fabulous Adrienne of The Iowa Farmer’s Wife: Mason Jar Snow Globes! This craft is super simple. Instead of worrying about having the right size figurine or modeling clay to stick down your props or finding a glue that works in water – all you need to do is press on some stickers!
Want to make it even easier? Forget about the water completely and use fake snow. Crafting should be fun, not frustrating! Materials A mason jar (or any jar with a good seal will do)Glitter paillettes (you can also use fake snow or sequins or regular glitter)Plastic 3-D StickersWaterGlycerin (vegetable oil works, too!) Step 1 Open your jar and press on your stickers. If you want your “globe” to mainly rest on the bottom instead of the lid, keep that in mind when placing your stickers.
Easter Crafting. I've been spending Fridays with Grandma, and it's been fun to have projects to work on. We've stamped cards, painted with watercolor, filled beanbags, decorated cookies, and done lots and lots of jigsaw puzzles. I had been searching for an Easter project that we could make and send out to the great grandkids - these little sock bunnies from Family Fun were just our speed. Start with a toddler sock, fill with dried beans, tie off the top with a rubber band.
Cut the top into ear shapes (cut a "v" with rounded tops), tie a bow around the neck. We opted to paint the features and tail because some of them are going to little kiddos and we didn't want to worry about pieces coming off. Super cute! Clark made one by himself and has been playing with it all week - building block houses for him and acting out scenes. All packaged up and ready to go! And in other cute news ...

Homemade playdough – If ever there was a quintessential DIY this is it! Parents and children have been happily cooking up this stuff at home for decades. Today our newest contributor Kaley is sharing her favorite play dough recipe using another kid classic: Jell-O (because it just wouldn’t be an MPMK post without some sort of twist). I think you’re going to love this recipe.
Kaley promises it comes out silky smooth and I could practically smell the fruity scents wafting form my computer as I read her post. What kid doesn’t love play dough? It’s super easy, inexpensive, and a perfect project for the kids to help with. You will need: white flour – 1 cupwarm water – 1 cupsalt – 2 tbspcream of tartar – 2 tbspcooking oil – 2 tbspJello – 1 3oz pack Click through for full instructions. Mix all of the ingredients together in a small saucepan. Even though it makes for a longer process and a lot more clean up, let the little ones do the measuring and mixing. This recipe makes a lot of play dough.
