The CDC reports that each day in the United States, more than 9 people are killed and 1,060 are injured in crashes that involve a distracted driver. Cell phones, loud music, and even passengers are just a few distractions that can affect us while driving. A Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study has found the collision risk is 23 times greater when texting. Several bills have been filed in the Florida legislature to strengthen the texting and driving bill passed last year. Texting causes drivers to look away from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds. The Florida legislature recently passed and on April 2nd the Governor signed the bill to rollback vehicle registration fees that were increased in 2009. I’m alerting all motorists about this exclusion. Lastly, a deadline reminder for anyone paying property taxes in one lump sum.
