DIY Stella McCartney MVP Shorts. If you’re anything like me, you don’t often have the opportunity to wear mesh.

DIY Stella McCartney MVP Shorts

I am not exactly athletic and my basketball career ended at the age of 10 in tears on the phone with my parents while I was stuck at UConn basketball camp. Stella McCartney Spring 2012 sent some posh mesh options down the runway, combining the perforated texture with grecian appliques. The dresses from the collection have been worn by basically every single celebrity now and the look is really easy to recreate. Take a deep breath and then venture into your nearest sporting goods store for some mesh shorts. Add some appliques and it’s game time. Like this: Like Loading... Double Dose: Summer Shorts Makeover. Summer has taken full swing, making it the perfect time to whip up some summer shorts projects.

We went on a bit of a shopping expedition over the weekend, and I must say there are some really cute trends for the upcoming season. But like most of us, my wallet isn't begging to be emptied, so I came up with a few ways to give a couple pairs of shorts your dresser drawer might already own, a new look. Take a peek... Supplies: Shorts (mine are from a second hand store for $5 each!) , doilies or trim, thick fabric. Pantry Supplies: needle and thread, embroidery thread, sewing pins, scissors, iron. For the doily shorts, begin by ironing down a small fold on the hem of the shorts. For the fabric pocket shorts, simply take a piece of fabric (I used a thrifted place mat!) Festival season is here!

It’s time to pull out the crop tops, floppy hats, distressed booties and of course the cut offs. Doctrine Jeans invited a few DIY bloggers to create a pair of cut offs for festival season and hosted an event in LA on Friday to let fans make their own. Check out the DIY below to see the Runway DIY version and check back this week on my Twitter and Facebook to see what other bloggers and fans made at the event!

DIY Lace Pocket Shorts

I’ve chosen my favorite pair of coral high-waisted shorts to decorate. Lace is a wardrobe essential for me, and I wanted to bring a little bit of that into my favorite pair of shorts. Adding lace to a front or back pocket is a super easy way to embellish any pair of shorts. Here’s what you’ll need: - Any pair of shorts that has pockets - Lace fabric (the lace I used is just a curtain I found at a thrift shop for $1) - Scissors - A needle and thread - A marker/pencil Step 1: Line the edge of your fabric up with a seam of the pocket. Step 2: Cut along the dotted line. Step 3: Line up the lace with the pocket of your shorts and begin to sew the around the perimeter of the pocket. The final step: Finish sewing around the perimeter of the pocket and knot and trim any leftover thread.

Once you’ve completed the first pocket, you can decide to embellish the other one too! Here is the finished product!
