The Singularity Is Near
The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology is a 2005 non-fiction book about artificial intelligence and the future of humanity by inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil . This is his first book to embrace the Singularity as a term, but the ideas contained within are derived from his previous books, the The Age of Spiritual Machines (1999) and The Age of Intelligent Machines (1990). Kurzweil describes his law of accelerating returns which predicts an exponential increase in technologies like computers , genetics , nanotechnology , robotics and artificial intelligence . He says this will lead to a technological singularity in the year 2045, a point where progress is so rapid it outstrips humans' ability to comprehend it.Three Laws of Robotics
The Three Laws of Robotics (often shortened to The Three Laws or Three Laws ) are a set of rules devised by the science fiction author Isaac Asimov . The rules were introduced in his 1942 short story " Runaround ", although they had been foreshadowed in a few earlier stories. The Three Laws are:The Terminator is a 1984 American science fiction action film directed by James Cameron , co-written by Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd and William Wisher Jr. and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger , Michael Biehn , and Linda Hamilton . The film was produced by Hemdale Film Corporation and distributed by Orion Pictures , and filmed in Los Angeles . Schwarzenegger plays the Terminator , a cyborg assassin sent back in time from the year 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor , played by Hamilton. Biehn plays Kyle Reese , a soldier from the future sent back in time to protect Sarah. Though not expected to be either a commercial or critical success, The Terminator topped the American box office for two weeks and helped launch the film career of Cameron and solidify that of Schwarzenegger.
