The Gatorade Sports Science Institute at IMG Academy is a partnership with Gatorade to help athletes during their journey to become the total athlete. Starting in 2011, IMG Academy and Gatorade began offering athletes who train on campus another way to gain an advantage over the competition - a Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) lab located on the IMG Academy Campus.
In its first year, the GSSI lab at IMG Academy tested more than 400 IMG Academy athletes of all ages and skill levels. As one of only three facilities in the world, the flagship lab in Barrington, Illinois and the newest satellite facility on the campus of Loughborough University in the U.K., scientists from GSSI will use their expertise in sports nutrition and exercise performance, along with the data gathered at the lab at IMG Academy to help student-athletes better understand how their bodies work, the importance of nutrition and, ultimately, how to perform at their best.
