Ils refusent la façon dont le projet HidroAysén — un projet de grands barrages en Patagonie porté par l’entreprise privée Endesa, filiale du groupe énergétique italien Enel — a été approuvé : l’influence exercée par les entreprises sur le gouvernement, les conflits d’intérêts de certains membres de la COREMA (Commission Régionale de l’Environnement) de Aysén — désignés par les ministres de Sebastian Piñera, l’actuel président chilien [ 1 ] — et la façon dont l’avis de la population a été méprisé. Ras-le-bol généralisé Un autre élément qui a motivé les manifestations, les semaines qui ont suivi cette approbation, a été la position intransigeante du gouvernement qui n’a pas arrêté de dire que « le Chili a besoin d’HidroAysén », alors que plusieurs études scientifiques affirment le contraire.
