Demon. In Ancient Near Eastern religions as well as in the Abrahamic traditions, including ancient and medieval Christian demonology, a demon is considered an unclean spirit, sometimes a fallen angel, the spirit of a deceased human, or a spirit of unknown type which may cause demonic possession, calling for an exorcism.

Demon

In Western occultism and Renaissance magic, which grew out of an amalgamation of Greco-Roman magic, Jewish demonology and Christian tradition,[2] a demon is a spiritual entity that may be conjured and controlled. Terminology[edit] The Greek term does not have any connotations of evil or malevolence. In fact, εὐδαιμονία eudaimonia, (literally good-spiritedness) means happiness. The supposed existence of demons remains an important concept in many modern religions and occultist traditions.

Naberius

The infamous Three-headed hound of Hades served as the guardian to the gates of the Underworld, letting not a soul in or out without the permission of his master. When I first read of the assertion that the demon Naberius is the same being as the legendary hellhound, I was more than a bit skeptical. However, further research has led me to believe that it is very possible that Naberius is in fact Cerberus - in a different form. First of all, Naberius (like most demons) has more than one form. Regardless of his personal history, the demon Marquis Naberius is considered to be the bravest of all the named demons. Return from Naberius to the List of Demon Names.

List of Demon Names. Before we begin, there are a few notes that should be made about the following list of demon names.

List of Demon Names

First, please read the disclaimer warning right above the list itself. You'll know why when you read it. Secondly, please note that there are many more beings considered "demonic" than will end up on this list. Over time I hope to expand this list to include every being from every world mythology, but (as you may have read on the main Demons page) not all evil spirits fall into this category. At least for now the following list contains the names of the 72 known demons from the Ars Goetia in the Lesser Key of Solomon. Last, but certainly not least, is a suggestion for anyone interested in demons or demonology - keep an open mind. WARNING: Before you read the list of demon names, one more warning.

Speaking a demon's name may or may not do any harm, but in supernatural theory, speaking a demon's name gives it power and summons it to you. Okay, that said, let's continue... Archetypes.
