As noted in the explanation of the ranking system, the method I adopted to re-rank the titles from the sources originally used a simple 150-point scale, which remained in place on this site for over six years. It was abandoned after John Young pointed out that rating 100-title lists on the same scale as a 150-title list disadvantaged the former, an observation that resulted in the discovery of other problems with the system. Rather than consign it to complete oblivion, however, I present it here as an alternative ranking, and an object lesson, perhaps, in mathematical naiveté.
