In July 2011 Cloud.com was acquired by Citrix Systems and is now the official cloud compute platform for Citrix products and services going forward. To that end Citrix has chosen to sponsor the CloudStack open source project in addition to offering commercial support and service offerings. CloudStack is an open source cloud compute platform used to deliver Infrastructure-as-a-Service. The software is licensed under the Apache Software License v2 and can be used in production environments with no restriction other than abiding by the terms of the ASL license. Citrix Systems offers commercial technical and product support and professional services as well as alternative licensing for CloudStack worldwide.
