Mat Casner

Five years ago, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes was scouting for a new design agency to handle the monthly design efforts of the ministry's magazine, Sharing the Victory. FCA decided Redlogic had the skills to go the distance. Today, Redlogic is still designing a publication brimming with sport's brightest stars.

I'm always thinking about usability no matter the medium. I spend the bulk of my waking hours designing by whiteboard, marker sketch or in an app. When I'm not designing, you can find me crafting front-end code or learning about what's to come in digital, tablet and mobile devices. Garmin has strengthened my big picture skills -- we must always consider scale, context and the brand itself. I build most everything I design, a pattern which started at Bernstein-Rein but has certainly extended to our workflow at Garmin.

The thing with freelancing is that it’s a business. You may be a graphic designer, writer, or web developer by profession but since you’re doing business, there are always some boring but essential tasks, you know, like organizing overwhelming to-do lists or filing disgusting taxes. http://www.fcacamps.org/ We’re excited to announce the 2012 Camp Theme “In the Zone”. Everyone at an athletic competition knows the moment it happens. The competitors can sense it; the coaches can only watch it and the fans are in awe of it. It’s the instant when an athlete takes his or her game to a higher level during the course of a contest. Something happens that catapults the athlete into a stage of competitive performance where every skill is performed with perfection and every move is executed flawlessly.

“Coach, I couldn't make it to weight-lifting on time because I had to get my hair cut.” Apparently there wasn't enough time in the day for this athlete to handle his busy schedule. It's not like there was any other time in the day he could have gotten a haircut. It must have been a life-or-death situation!
