I believe that there is much beauty and colour in the Irish landscape. It is that which I aim to capture in my paintings. My art is primarily about capturing the essence of those places that speak to me on a personal level. Perhaps more importantly than this, my paintings are about my love of colour. When working in oils, I am continuously experimenting with the placing of heavy layers of colour on canvas, and I strive to see colour in the seemingly ‘mundane’ and ‘ordinary’ things around us. I especially enjoy painting ‘en plein air’. My favourite stage in the painting process is that magical stage at the very beginning of a painting, once the design has been executed. Previous group shows include Ballina Rotary Club Group Exhibition ’07, Simpson’s Hospital Affordable Art Show (’08), Ballina Arts Centre (’08 & ’09), Dalkey Winter Fair ’09 and the RDS Art Fair (’08 & ’09).

I believe that they are equally important and that one feeds into the other. For the past 30 years I have been painting and involved in the study of fine art. The greatest influence on my painting style and process came from Sergei Bongart, the internationally known Russian Impressionist artist, and his colleagues, Ron Lukas, Sonny Apinchapong, and Delbert Gish. In the past, I was involved in attending and sponsoring workshops for the artists who worked with Sergei. For many years, I have exhibited, demonstrated, and taught painting and drawing workshops in Washington, Colorado, California, Florida, France, and Africa. As an Impressionist artist involved in capturing the true color of light in various situations, the majority of my work begins with a small painting executed onsite, or painting other forms of real-life subject matter, such as florals or still life compositions.

Her paintings are joyful expressions brought to life through color and form. As a portrait artist, her focus is on the individual and her work reflects this bias, each painting a story about the subject’s life. The style of her work can be called a form of “painterly realism”. Influenced by living in South Florida for over 30 years, her images often reflect a tropical theme, rich in color. Nancy’s work has been commissioned publicly and privately numerous times. Recent exhibits include the Palm Beach International Airport , One Person Show at Whole Foods Market in Wellington, One Person Show at the City of Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Center, the Village of Wellington’s Art in Public Places, the Town of Jupiter Community Center and Village Art Gallery in Tequesta.

Her work has been published multiple times. Nancy enjoys exhibiting her work at art festivals where she can meet people and exchange ideas.
