Nook Color to get apps, Flash support | E-Readers | Playlist | Macworld. Barnes & Noble's Nook Color e-reader will receive a software update in April, transforming it into a cheap Android tablet. The Home Shopping Network (HSN) spilled the beans on the Nook software update via a product listing on its site. The Wi-Fi Nook Color costs $249 from Barnes & Noble, has a 7-inch color touchscreen, and runs on Google's Android mobile operating system. But the device is far from being a full-fledged Android tablet due to its lack of e-mail access, apps, a Web browser, and other standard tablet features (unless you hack the Nook Color). According to HSN's listing, the software update for the Nook Color will bring the e-reader closer to being a full-featured Android tablet. The patch is set to bring a Web browser (with Adobe Flash support) and an e-mail client.

The Nook Color already features a music player and can play videos in MP4 format. How to Charge Any USB Device by Riding Your Bike. Buy iPhone 4 Transparent Case Mod Kit | Iphone 4 Jailbreak. Users are reporting serious battery life problems after upgrading their Apple devices to last week’s iOS 4.3 release. The bug seems to be affecting all devices running the software, including the iPhone and iPad. Drops of 15-20% have been observed occurring after using the device for only a few minutes. There’s some speculation that the new Safari JavaScript engine is consuming more power or that increased usage of application multitasking is to blame, but many reports are indicating that the issue still occurs when Safari is not in use and no apps are running.

User Waldo Nell1 in a post on the official Apple support forums said, “Killed all instances of applications, still drained 4% in 15 minutes with the display off,” after reporting a battery life drop of 20% over 20 minutes after the update while the phone was doing nothing. It’s not the first time in recent history an iOS update has introduced a significant bug affecting a large number of users. iOS 4.3.1 to Bring Minor Battery Life Improvements? BGR, which reported on Monday that users should expect bug fixes in the form of iOS 4.3.1 to be released in the next week or two, now reports that it has had a few days of hands-on time with the update, confirming that minor bug fixes to seem to be the primary purpose. But the report also hints that users may be able to sneak a bit more battery life out of their devices with the new update, potentially addressing widespread battery life issues noted under iOS 4.3.

We reported the changes from iOS 4.3 a few days back, and it really does look as if iOS 4.3.1 will simply fix bugs, hence the version numbering. Battery life seems a tad bit better, though that's not scientific at all. While evidence for improved battery life seems thin at this point in the absence of explicit testing by BGR or others with access to iOS 4.3.1, many users are no doubt hoping that such changes are indeed included.

Read on for a breakdown on USB charging. The concept of USB charging Many people ask for advice when it comes to USB charging becuase they’re unsure if a certain charger etc will work with their device.

The answer can be both yes and no. We’ll come back to the “no” part later, but first off there are a few basic concepts that are important to understand about USB. USB is basically the computer equivalent of an AC outlet, but standardized worldwide not just for certain countries. The standard USB power rating will be 5V 500mA which means that a device connected will receive 5V and be able to draw a maximum of 500mA (milliampere). The exception to this might be if someone has made chargers than use USB connectors but other voltages. Bottom line.
